First week back at it!! ✅🙌

Here’s a little tour of the North Central Washington Vet’s Hall where we’re doing community acupuncture on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

People have been asking “Why the Vet’s Hall”? And the short answer is that WCA and the Vet’s Hall both believe in the power of healing from isolation and mental health crises through community connections and human-to-human support.

The longer answer is that WCA has been a service provider for the Staff Sergeant Gordon Parker Fox grant funded program for the past 18 months or so and has close relationships to many in the Veteran community.

The SSGPF program offers community-style acupuncture with nervous system regulation coaching at WCA, equine therapy at and physical training with deep mindset work with Ruben
Payan, Jr. of Powerful Human. It is coordinated and led locally by Tony Sandoval at the Chelan County office of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs.

This collaboration is an innovative and successful, community-based model for trauma recovery and su***de
prevention for Veterans. I hope in the future that these type of community-based non-medicalized models for
mental health care continue to take root for us all.

We need each other.

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.” - Peter Levine

I wanted to write a quick update post before I take a break from reporting on “Floodsville 2025”. 🤣😵‍💫🥹 I’m ready to get back into a rhythm!! So this will likely be the last post for a bit.

But first - I have to do a VERY LOUD SHOUTOUT to all my peeps, near and far and if you’re reading this, that includes you. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your support over the last week. It means more to me than I’ll ever be able to describe in words. I hope that my gifts of service at WCA now and in the future will speak for me.

Next, I’m awestruck ‼️‼️‼️to announce that WCA will be open for appointments NEXT WEEK!! Many thanks to the NCW Vet's Hall and Loni McKenzie, LMT for offering to host us. You can book an appointment via the link in the bio or by visiting the website. (Note that during this transition, I will not be taking new patients and will have a reduced volume of appointments).

If you have any questions please reach out or see the FAQs link in the bio or directly on WCAs website.

May we be strong and steady together. 🙏🏼🙌🫶⭐️

I want to share a beautiful story that happened as we were salvaging the space Tuesday.

My friend Jim was going through and salvaging anything in the waiting room of the clinic. The waiting room had big cubbies and we stored all our books for the weekly Recovery Dharma meeting we host at WCA. The waiting room was also gifted 2 huge monestra plants a few months ago which were growing like crazy! Anyhow, Jim looked under one of monestra leaves and one of our Recovery Dharma books (The World Comes to You by Michael Stone) was opened to a chapter that was called “Waves and Water”. 🥹🌊😭

Life is full of ups and downs. You gotta ride the waves…I’m grateful for these serendipitous messages to us all in the midst of so much loss. It gives me a light to keep following.

For those of you who haven’t heard, I am so sorry to report that Wenatchee Community Acupuncture (and several other businesses downtown) was catastrophically flooded early Tuesday morning.

The fire water main in the building blew and the 5 inch pipe was pouring 110 psi of water 2 feet behind WCA’s treatment room from roughly 2 am to 3:30 am. The water rose to about 4-5 feet before it blew out the doors.

When the fire fighters arrived, they were wading through 4 feet of water to investigate what was happening.

WCA will be closed for the foreseeable future due to the extent of the damage to everything. I will keep everyone updated as soon as I have more information about re-opening the charter space (looking at months).

Through the incredible generosity of my veteran family, it looks like we will be offering acupuncture at the Vets Hall in downtown Wenatchee as soon as mid-October. There is a lot of work to do in order to get everything arranged but that’s what we’re striving towards.

I am devastated and also hopeful. I feel everyone’s strong support for WCA and for me personally. Words can’t describe how grateful I am. We heal in community.

There is a gofundme account which will be used to replace the infrastructure of WCA (recliners and office furniture). If you feel inspired to give, you can click on the link in the bio or comments. Sharing this post also helps tremendously.

Much love to our community. 🫶🙏🏼🫶

It is with a devastated but hopeful heart that I share this news.

This morning, Wenatchee Community Acupuncture (and many other local businesses in the Midtown and Halbert buildings downtown) experienced catastrophic flooding in its space. WCA was the epicenter of the flooding as it is located in the basement adjacent to where the fire main broke.

As a community, we have spent years building WCA into the space that it is. If I had to pick one statement to describe what goes on at WCA it is: we get through life TOGETHER through the power of community, connection and acupuncture.

Personally, WCA is my life blood and at many times, I have felt that it is the main reason why I am here on earth. It is the organizing principle of how I think of showing up in the world. I love it and my work with my whole heart.

If you feel inspired to "pay it forward" please consider donating to get the supplies and infrastructure back in place. My dear friends and community have already identified spaces in which to offer acupuncture in Wenatchee but we need recliners and needles lol!!! Beyond that, it can all come together again in the beloved space as it is remediated and restored in the coming weeks and months.

Check back here with updates about location, hours and booking details. I'm hoping to have some updates by the end of the week.

Thank you so much everyone.

With much love and gratitude. 🙏

Art is everything. Because art is creation.

Acupuncture is creation.
Music is creation.
Healing is creation.
Listening is creation.
Speaking is creation.
Family is cre.ation
Love is creation.
Community is creation.
Nature is creation.

The entirety of your life (and everything) is creation.

So what is it, dear one, that you are creating within your one precious life…

“So much of twenty-first century education has prioritized STEM (science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics), but for all that STEM provides, it does not offer a way to ethically engage the heart. Through art, we can connect more fully with the non-Human world.”

PS: I was blessed the gift of attending the Write on the River’s 20th Anniversary Spring Writing Conference this weekend. Thus this post 🤩🤩🤩 This organization did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend their
offerings for everyone!!

Tribal council has arrived!!

😂😂😂🫶🫶🫶🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🎉🎉🎉

Many thanks to my dear friend

“It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. I was so preposterously serious in those days…Lightly, lightly – it’s the best advice ever given me…to throw away your baggage and go forward. There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet, trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair. That’s why you must walk so lightly. Lightly my darling…”

-Aldous Huxley
