Dr. Jeremiah Johnson created WVOFS after assuming the practice of Leonard Pierce in 2014. Jeremiah grew up in the Skagit Valley of western Washington and eventually completed his medical and dental schools and residency training up and down the west coast. He eventually went to Australia for a fellowship in Orthognathic (jaw straightening) Surgery. After 12 years of training, he brought his expertise in dental surgery, maxillofacial surgery and out-patient anesthesia to Wenatchee. Now WVOFS is the premiere specialty practice for dental implants and wisdom tooth extraction in Wenatchee. He is also the region's only specialist and in orthognathic jaw surgery. Jeremiah and his wife Molly have 3 lovely boys and enjoy all the outdoor activities offered in this area. Dr. Francis Collins retired from his own practice in 2015 and joined WVOFS as a part time associate. Given the growth of the practice, in 2016 WVOFS moved to the landmark Starkweather building on North Chelan Ave in Wenatchee and added Dr. Tyler McDonald. Dr. McDonald is a Tri-Cities native that did his dental schooling and residency training at the University of Washington. He and his wife enjoy the outdoor lifestyle of Wenathcee with their 2 energetic daughters.

October is National Dental Hygiene Month, a time to raise awareness about good oral health habits and the importance of regular dental care, and it's also National Orthodontic Health Month, focusing on the benefits of proper bite alignment for overall well-being. Key oral hygiene practices for National Dental Hygiene Month include the "Daily Four": brushing twice a day, flossing daily, using fluoride mouthwash, and chewing sugar-free gum, which help prevent cavities and gum disease.

Be sure to schedule a regular dental cleaning and check up with your dentist to stay on top of your over all well being!

🦷Wisdom Teeth Removal🦷
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last set of teeth to develop into the back corners of the mouth. It's common for these teeth to cause problems because they often don't have enough room to grow into their proper position. Fortunately, our office recommends and offers early wisdom teeth removal to help prevent issues from arising.
Wisdom teeth removal is an extremely common procedure in our oral surgery office. With many patients of third molar extractions being young, we always do our best to provide compassionate and high-quality care.

🦷When Do You Need To See An Oral Surgeon?🦷
Knowing when to see an oral surgeon can make a big difference in your overall oral health. If you're experiencing persistent pain in your teeth, jaw, or face, it could be a sign of an underlying issue that needs expert care. Common symptoms include swelling, difficulty chewing, jaw stiffness, or wisdom teeth beginning to push through. These issues often don't improve on their own and can lead to more serious complications if left untreated. Scheduling a consultation allows us to evaluate your concerns and recommend the most effective treatment options.

You should also consider making an appointment if you've been referred by your general dentist for specialized care. Oral surgeons are trained to handle more complex procedures like tooth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, and corrective jaw surgery. If you're missing teeth, struggling with jaw alignment, or facing chronic oral infections, it's time to explore surgical solutions that can restore your health and function. We’re here at our multiple locations to provide clear answers, a custom treatment plan, and the expert care you deserve.

Don't wait until the discomfort worsens—early intervention often leads to quicker recovery and better long-term results.

🦷Recognizing When You Need Emergency Oral Surgery🦷
Unsure whether your dental problem counts as an emergency? Ask yourself: "Is this pain or injury significantly affecting my daily life?" If yes, you likely need immediate professional attention.
Common emergency scenarios include:
🔴Severe Tooth Pain: Sharp, persistent toothaches indicating infection or nerve damage.
🔴Knocked-Out or Fractured Teeth: Accidents or sports injuries requiring prompt repair.
🔴Wisdom Teeth Complications: Sudden swelling, infections, or extreme discomfort.
🔴Facial Trauma and Injuries: Broken jaws or damage from falls or accidents.
🔴Dental Abscesses: Painful, swollen infections needing quick surgical drainage.
Think of dental emergencies like plumbing leaks: the sooner they're addressed, the less damage they cause in the long run.
