I would never recommend this type of product for long term use due to It’s super high in oleic acid and wrecks the skin by destroying the calcium gradient, allowing an overload of calcium into cells and causing cell death. Then, we see a big increase in TEWL, sensitivity, and inflammation. Using single lipids on the skin stops the skin barrier from recovering by increasing TEWL. Our skin needs more than one type of lipid to remain healthy (Fatty Acids, Ceramides & Cholesterol). Lipids, naturally occurring fats, play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of your skin barrier. Your skin’s barrier is the first line of defense against external aggressors, ranging from harsh environmental conditions to harmful microorganisms. By virtue of their presence, lipids contribute significantly to fortifying this barrier, thereby safeguarding your skin from potential damage and maintaining its overall health. Fatty acids help with the structural integrity of lipids and optimize the skin’s overall lipid balance. Ceramides increase hydration and barrier function. Cholesterol accelerates barrier recovery in aging skin to improve elasticity.
