If you needed ACL surgery, would you choose less invasive surgery using a small camera (arthroscopic surgery) or would you want your knee opened up all of the way (arthrotomy)? Arthroscopic surgery in dogs has shown the same advantages as for people – less invasive, lower infection rate, faster recovery, more precise diagnosis and treatment. Milo wants to let everyone know the Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery Center isn’t just for dogs! Though canine patients more commonly have orthopedic injuries, such as ACL tears, we also see orthopedic disease in cats. Milo came to the Ortho Center for treatment of one of the most common orthopedic injuries in young cats called a capital physeal fracture. Post surgery he has recovered very well and is back to his normal playful (and now donut free) self!
