HFS is the only nonprofit birth center and women's health clinic in the RGV with services rendered by Certified Nurse Midwives! Holy Family Services is the longest licensed free-standing birth center in Texas! Founded in 1983 by four Catholic sisters, we strive to uphold their mission by continuing to provide safe and affordable family-centered maternity care to families in the Rio Grande Valley.

Here at Holy Family, full-scope prenatal care, labor/delivery, water birth, postpartum and newborn care is provided by Certified-Nurse Midwives, in addition to general well-woman care and exams. Flexible payment plans are available. CASH, MEDICAID/CHIPS, AND MOST PRIVATE INSURANCES ACCEPTED! Even if we are "out-of-network" we can work with your insurance to make an exception for "in-network" care. Please call our office for more information.

To our beautiful RGV community! ☀️

For 40 years, we’ve been a safe haven for mothers and babies, and we are working hard behind the scenes to make our facility better than ever for our reopening!

As a non-profit birth center, we rely on the support of our community so our funds can go directly toward patient care. We are currently looking for local businesses to donate equipment and labor, OR generous community members to sponsor the total cost of a project!

Here is what our campus currently needs:

🔒 Security & Tech: A commercial locksmith (electronic locks), camera system installation, IT/Wi-Fi setup, and a Web Developer!

🛠️ Skilled Trades: A plumber, an electrician, and a carpenter for screened-in porch repairs.

✨ Grounds Refresh: Pressure washing, professional landscaping, pest control services, exterior painting, and specialty floor care.

🧺 Physical Donations: A washer and dryer. (Since we are a medical facility, we just ask that any donated appliances are fully functioning, clean, and in great condition to safely serve our families!)

Not in the trades? You can still help! We are also looking for passionate community members to organize local fundraisers or join one of our Reopening Committees (including our Newborn Care Packages Committee!).

🌟CALLING ALL CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIVES!

Are you a passionate CNM looking to practice the true, holistic midwifery model of care?

Holy Family Services is expanding, and we are looking for a dedicated Full-Time Certified Nurse Midwife to join our historic birth center family right here in South Texas!

For over 40 years, we have provided a safe, beautiful, out of hospital birth experience for families in our community. We are currently rebuilding our foundation, pursuing CABC accreditation, and looking for a clinical leader who wants to make a massive impact.

We know how hard midwives work, which is why we have built a compensation and support package designed to prevent burnout and let you focus on what you love most.

What we offer our Midwives:

A truly sustainable call schedule to protect your off time, plus Paid Time Off (PTO).

Relocation assistance is available, plus access to a dedicated staff house!

We pay for your malpractice insurance and provide an annual stipend for your Continuing Education.

Incredible Support Staff: You are never alone. You will be supported by a dedicated team of RNs, trained Birth Assistants, and a Clinical Director.

You will have the opportunity to support water births, physiologic labor, and utilize nitrous oxide in our private birth houses.
Whether you have a background in hospital care or birth centers, if you are drawn to community based care and the heart of physiologic midwifery, we want to meet you!

Today marks a bittersweet moment in our "Family" legacy as we say goodbye to one of our incredible midwives, Vanessa. She began her journey with us through our fellowship program, where new graduates enhance their skills and build confidence through hands-on work and mentorship from our senior midwives. She departs as a confident, skilled, and experienced provider, having herself become a senior midwife this year. It's our tradition for those leaving to ring the chapel bell, signaling their departure—a farewell for now, not a goodbye. Her new community is incredibly lucky to have her. She will be dearly missed by ours. We wish you all the best, Vanessa, and sincerely hope to see you again. You'll always have a home at Holy Family. We ❤ You!

For over 40 years, Holy Family Services has been the heart of where families begin in the Rio Grande Valley. We have seen the outpouring of love following the recent video from our Clinical Director, Amy. We hear you, we see you, and we feel that same deep connection to this sacred mission.

Starting June 3, 2026, Holy Family Services will begin a strategic suspension of services. We want to be very clear that this is not a permanent closing. Instead, this is an intentional pause for a true Rebirth of our center. For a legacy as long as ours to continue, we must occasionally step back to grow even stronger.

We are using this time to modernize our systems and conduct a professional reorganization. This will ensure that Holy Family remains a charitable, educational, and medical pillar for the RGV for generations to come. This is a natural evolution to make sure our future is as bright as our past.

Our Rebirth Roadmap

While our exact timing depends on funding and our audit progress, our hearts are set on these goals:

🌱 Phase 1: Stabilization. We are bringing in independent experts to make sure our new foundation is built on clinical and fiscal excellence.

🌱 Phase 2: Modernizing the Model. We are updating our systems to ensure every resource is directed exactly where it belongs, which is the care of mothers and babies.

🌱 Phase 3: Building for the Future. We are establishing a leadership structure to guide our next chapter with the high standards the Valley deserves.

🌱 Phase 4: The Grand Rebirth. We plan to relaunch our services as soon as our sustainable model is fully prepared. We are working toward a target relaunch this fall.

Our administrative office remains active during this transition to support our families with medical records and guidance. We are so grateful for your grace, your prayers, and your belief in this mission. We are not just a clinic. We are a community legacy, and we are working hard to build a stronger home for the families of the RGV.
