Typing, lifting, scanning, or using tools all day?

These repetitive motions can lead to Cumulative Trauma Disorders (CTDs), a group of injuries caused by repeated strain on muscles, tendons, and nerves.

Early signs include:
• Tingling or numbness
• Weak grip strength
• Persistent soreness or swelling
• Pain that worsens during activity

Ignoring these signs can turn a simple strain into long-term damage like carpal tunnel or tendonitis.

If you’re noticing recurring pain from your daily tasks, don’t wait.

Florida Pain Medicine can help prevent it from becoming a chronic condition.

Last week Florida Pain Medicine had a fantastic evening at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant for an educational dinner event in partnership with Boston Scientific! 🍷

A big thank-you to Kirti Patel, PA-C, for her insightful presentation on the Intracept™ Procedure; a cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatment that targets the basivertebral nerve (BVN) to relieve chronic vertebrogenic low back pain.

The night was filled with great discussion, education, and collaboration among providers dedicated to advancing pain management for our patients.

We’re proud to continue leading the way in interventional spine care and patient education across Florida.

Lifting with your legs, not your back, is just the beginning.

Most workplace lifting injuries happen because of:

• Twisting while lifting
• Lifting loads too far from the body
• Not warming up before physically demanding tasks
• Underestimating the weight or not asking for help

Even small mistakes can lead to herniated discs, muscle tears, or long-term back pain.

📣 Training. Innovation. Mentorship.
Florida Pain Medicine + Surgery Center of Florida 🔬

Today we hosted a high-impact hands-on training lab in partnership with the ACGME-accredited Pain Medicine Fellowship and PM&R Residency at USF. Fellows, residents, faculty, and industry partners trained across five stations focused on advanced therapies and procedural fundamentals.

Why this matters:
Florida Pain Medicine serves the Tampa / Tampa Bay / Daytona Beach corridor. Our mission is simple: Restore Function & Relive Life. As a core rotation site for USF fellows/residents, we connect academic rigor with real-world interventional spine innovation.

Today’s lab brought:
• Fellows, residents, and faculty working side-by-side
• Industry leaders providing real device education (Boston Scientific, Abbott, Silo FX, Intracept)
• A culture of mentorship, not just exposure
• Procedural fundamentals, including suturing with Yenny, reinforcing that great outcomes start with great technique

Why this positions us at the forefront:
• Official USF rotation site = part of the academic training pipeline
• Multi-city footprint: Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Ormond Beach, Port Orange
• Real devices, real workflows, real outcomes
• Training future leaders in pain and spine medicine

A personal note:
As someone who completed my PMR residency at USF here at home (where I served as chief resident and chief fellow) and then an interventional pain fellowship, I know first-hand the value of opportunity, mentorship and access. Leading Florida Pain Medicine means more than growing a practice, it means building the future of pain medicine in Florida, here in Tampa Bay, the Gulf region, and Daytona Beach. To our fellows, residents, industry partners, techs, scrub teams and my colleagues: thank you for an unforgettable day. I’m proud, inspired and excited for what’s ahead.

Here’s to many more labs, more teaching moments, more innovation, and above all, more lives restored.

Whiplash isn’t just a sore neck; it’s a complex soft tissue injury that can affect muscles, ligaments, discs, and nerves in your neck and upper back.

During a car crash, your head is thrown forward and backward rapidly, overstretching spinal tissues.

Even at low speeds, this trauma can disrupt your spine’s alignment and irritate nerves, causing pain that lingers for months.

Left untreated, whiplash can lead to chronic headaches, jaw pain, shoulder tension, and even numbness or tingling in your arms.

Your pain might not start where you feel it.

The real culprit? Your nervous system.

When nerves become overactive or damaged, they can amplify pain signals, even after the injury heals.

Understanding nerve pain is key to lasting relief.

Not all car accident injuries show up immediately. Some symptoms can take hours, or even days, to appear.

Watch out for these delayed warning signs:

• Persistent headaches
• Dizziness or fatigue
• Neck or back stiffness
• Tingling or numbness in arms or legs
• Trouble focusing or memory issues

These could indicate whiplash, nerve injury, or even mild traumatic brain injury.

Early intervention can prevent long-term damage.

If you’ve been in an accident, even a minor one, don’t wait for symptoms to worsen.
