Shelby Lynn Haynes- 20, of West Alexandria, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025.

She was born July 11, 2005, in Dayton, to her parents, Steve E. and Kelly L. (Brooks) Haynes.

In addition to her parents, Shelby is survived by her siblings, Taryn Haynes, Izik Paxson, and Kyler (Alyssa) Maggard; paternal grandmother, Joyce Sizemore; maternal grandparents, Stu and Carol Brooks; and many cousins, family members, and friends.

Shelby’s beautiful spirit touched every heart that was lucky enough to know her. Born with a gentle soul and a creative mind, she brought light, laughter, and love into the world in ways that will never be forgotten.

A proud graduate of Preble Shawnee High School, Class of 2023, Shelby also attended MVCTC, where she studied welding—proving that her talents and determination knew no bounds. Whether she was working with metal, sketching a portrait, or tending to her plants, Shelby’s hands created beauty wherever they went. A talented artist, she could draw just about anything and turn even the simplest idea into a masterpiece. And with her green thumb, she could make any plant thrive with just a single touch.

Since she was young, Shelby showed a rare and genuine kindness. She was selfless, kindhearted, empathetic, and compassionate, someone who truly saw others and made them feel seen in return. Her laughter and warmth had a way of brightening any room, often becoming the light in the lives of her many friends and even those she had only just met.

As the youngest child, Shelby held a special place in her family’s heart. She was the one who would check in, offer comfort, and remind her siblings just how much they mattered to her. Her love was quiet yet powerful, always steady and sincere.

Shelby adored her pets and shared a deep bond with them. After Duke and Mia passed, it was Gracey who came along to steal her heart and bring her joy once again.

Though her time here feels far too short, Shelby’s compassion, creativity, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her light continues to shine through every memory, every work of art, and every life she helped make a little brighter.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 14, from 5PM to 8PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.
