Well.... soup weather is here.

Let me introduce you, or re-introduce you, to Log Cabin Friendship Soup.

All proceeds from this soup mix are used to support the Honey Creek Log Schoolhouse. You just have to add a pound of meat and can of diced tomatoes to this hearty mix.

These are for sale - $7 each - at City Hall and at the West Allis Public Library.

Congratulations to Carrie's Crispies on 5 years! Go check them out!

Today marks 5 YEARS of Carrie's Crispies in West Allis... five years of sticky fingers, laughter in the shop, late-night stirring marathons, flavor experiments gone right (and wrong 😅), and most importantly… YOU!

To our amazing customers, from day-one supporters to brand-new fans, THANK YOU for believing in a small Rice Crispie Treat shop with a big dream. You’ve shared us with your friends, brought us to your weddings, office and birthday parties, sent us across the country, and cheered us on every step of the way.

To the City of West Allis, thank you for embracing us, lifting us up, and giving us a hometown worth bragging about. This community is truly one-of-a-kind, and we’re proud to call it home.

To our employees, we simply couldn’t do this without you. From the long days to the “I know you’re off today… but any chance you can come in later?” early-morning texts, from weekends sacrificed to the constant support you show, you’ve given us everything and more. Carrie’s Crispies wouldn’t exist without each and every one of you.

To our friends, you came in CLUTCH this summer. You showed up before we could even ask. You packed, labeled, ran deliveries, and kept us laughing through the chaos. We’ll never forget that. Your support wasn’t just helpful, it kept us going.

To our family, our kids have literally grown up in this building. This is all they know! They may love the candy mix-ins more than the Rice Crispie Treats themselves, but hey… we’ll take it. 😉 And to our parents, siblings, nieces/nephews, we don’t know how we’d do this without you. From babysitting to jumping in at the shop whenever we've needed you, you’ve been our safety net since day one. We truly have the best support system anyone could ask for.

And again, because it can’t be said enough, THANK YOU to our customers. Whether you’ve bought one Crispie or 500, you’re the reason we’re still here (and still covered in marshmallows every day).

Fall officially started this week, so that means it's time for yard waste collection. Fall yard waste collection will run from Sunday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 16.

During this timeframe, yard waste materials such as leaves, weeds, flowers, vines, and other non-fruit or vegetable material can be placed in the curb-line of the street. After this date, yard waste can be brought to the Municipal Yard.

DO
- Rake yard waste into the street along the curb line, forming a long, low pile.
- If you don’t have a curb, place material along the roadway in a long, low pile.
- Wet material down to prevent it from blowing away.
- Remove pots and soil from plants before placing them for collection.
- When parking on the street, be mindful of leaf pile locations and allow a 15-foot clearance.

DO NOT
- Mix yard waste into brush piles.
- Place materials for collection in drainage ditches, alleys, garbage containers, ash boxes, or piles in your yard or driveway.
- Place yard waste for collection at any other time but during the dates listed.
- Park over yard waste piles. This prevents crews from picking up material and is a fire hazard.
- Place fruit and vegetables, including pumpkins, into the curb line with yard waste due to rodent activity. Instead, place those items in a plastic bag, tightly tied, then dispose of in your City garbage cart.

PLUS - The drop-off site at S. 116th Street south of Morgan Avenue will close for the year at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26. It will reopen next year on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
