How do you move? 🚴🏽🏊🏿‍♀️🚣‍♂️🧘🏾

For some of us, exercise is enough to stave off anxiety and depression symptoms. For others of us, it’s just part of the way we treat our depression or anxiety, a complement to our meds and therapy. Either way, it’s an important part of addressing our mental health. On bad days, even a dog walk can stave off the worst of my symptoms. 🐕‍🦺🦮

Meet Geeta!

Geeta Raval has just joined the Nora Milwaukee team, and she is accepting patients now. (AND Nora accepts most insurance!) Here’s how Geeta describes her therapeutic approach:

“The present and past do not have to be barriers to a better future. I help people of all ages and backgrounds discover strengths as they deal with depression, anxiety, stress, and life challenges, such as school and career, relationships, health issues, or other life transitions. Together we will develop strategies to break negative patterns and free up space for feeling and doing better. My treatment style draws on a variety of approaches, including CBT and DBT coping skills, motivational interviewing, and relational-cultural therapy. I welcome clients who may be unsure about therapy. And I am passionate about respecting unique experiences and perspectives.”

You can request a visit with Geeta by using the link in our bio, calling 414-897-9467, or emailing noramilwaukee@noramentalhealth.com

Won’t you join us in our creative community? No writing experience necessary! ✒️📖

Journaling, it turns out, has some pretty magical powers. Studies have shown it helps with depression and anxiety, improves working memory, even boosts our immune system! 📓 My theory is that, for many of us, we often let our uncomfortable feelings metastasize into cancers of the soul that weigh us down and plague our spirits. But a creative practice, like journaling? It gives us a way to metabolize those feelings instead: into meaning, understanding, action, art, beauty, connection, purpose, direction. 📝 And a DAILY creative practice? That’s where the magic really gets unleashed! 🪄🪄🪄

WRITE NOW, hosted by Nora Milwaukee, is free and open to anyone. You can follow along online with our daily posts or with a copy of Suleika Jaouad’s book, THE BOOK OF ALCHEMY: A CREATIVE PRACTICE FOR AN INSPIRED LIFE. We’ll pair our guided journey with regular (but optional!) in-person gatherings.

We start writing September 1!! 📕📗📘📙Won’t you join us??? Use the QR code to RSVP (link is also in comments)

Meet Jessika, one of the therapists at Nora Milwaukee, one of the area’s newest therapy practices.

Jessika Eiden, LPC is a warm, trauma-informed therapist with a background in education who supports children, teens, and adults through anxiety, life transitions, and relationship challenges. As a former teacher, she brings patience, creativity, and a deep understanding of emotional development into the therapy space. Do you know about forest bathing? It’s the radical idea that being nature is good for our nervous systems. 🍄🍁🌾🌻🍃🌳🪺🪻

It can be hard to find a forest to bathe in when you live in Milwaukee, so thank goodness for Schlitz Audubon Nature Center—they’re hosting a guided first bathing experience on Sunday.

Deepen your relationship with the natural world during a guided Forest Bathing Walk through our South Ravine forest. Participants will slowly travel through the forest while receiving a sequence of spoken invitations. These open-ended prompts encourage the participants’ senses to open and experien...
