WFNHP is proud to say we support Planned Parenthood and will work like hell to ensure Congress does not “defund” Planned Parenthood.

You read that right. Health care across the country is in DANGER. If Planned Parenthood is “defunded,” nearly 200 health centers could close, and more than 1.1M patients could lose access to care. Yesterday, the Committee for Equity in Nursing Education (CENE) — founded by unions and community based organizations — celebrated National Nurses Week with a press conference and picket line in front of the Arizona College of Nursing-Milwaukee Campus.

"They don't care if this person that's coming in has the right skillset that they need to be as nurse. They're just pushing them through, and then they fail, and then they're set with this ungodly debt," said Connie Smith, union president for the Wisconsin Federation of Nurses.

"We want them to be held accountable, to make sure that if they're going to be here, that they can have higher passing rates," Smith explained.

Thank you Senator Chris Larson for helping spread the word about the predatory practices of the Arizona College of Nursing and the need for more regulations on for-profit colleges.

For profit colleges make big promises and almost never fully deliver on them, leaving vulnerable students deep in debt with little to show for it.

Yesterday, the Coalition for Equity in Nursing Education held a press event outside the Milwaukee campus of one such institution, Arizona College of Nursing, in a passionate call for reform in how Wisconsin regulates for-profit colleges.

Join us Thursday, May 1st for the annual May Day March for worker and immigrant rights in Milwaukee. WFNHP is proud to be a sponsor of this year's march with Voces de la Frontera. This event takes place rain or shine.

📣 We are also looking for WFNHP members to volunteer to administer first aid at the event (must arrive by 8:30am). Please email info@wfnhp.org or DM our page to volunteer.

Marchers should gather at 9:30AM at the Voces de la Frontera Office (733 W. Mitchell Street) in Milwaukee where we will march approximately 2 miles to Zeidler Union Square Park (3rd & Michigan Streets). WFNHP members will be marching with the Milwaukee Area Labor Council and other labor unions.

WHEN: Kick off rally begins at 9:30AM

WHERE: Gather at the Voces Milwaukee Office at 733 W. Mitchell St. in Milwaukee. We will march to the Federal Courthouse 517 E. Wisconsin Ave. ***UPDATE 4/28/25: The route will now end at Zeidler Union Square (301 W. Michigan St)
