The Spring Equinox is here and your body feels this shift more than you might realize!
In Chinese Medicine, this is the moment where balance exists in nature, day and night are equal, and that same shift begins to happen internally. We move from the inward, restorative energy of winter into a more active, expansive state.
This is yang beginning to rise.
Spring is also associated with the Liver meridian, which plays a major role in keeping qi (life energy) moving smoothly throughout the body. When that flow is supported, we tend to feel more like ourselves—clearer, lighter, more emotionally regulated, and more energized.
What’s fascinating is how much this aligns with modern physiology.
As daylight increases:
your circadian rhythm resets
your digestion becomes more active
your detox pathways ramp up
and your nervous system shifts toward more daytime alertness
Your body is literally transitioning out of winter mode.
But here’s the important part—this isn’t a time to rush or force change.
Spring in Chinese Medicine is about gentle activation, not intensity.
A few simple ways to support your body right now:
• Get natural light early in the day
• Add gentle movement like walking, stretching, or twisting
• Eat more leafy greens
• Incorporate a bit of sour flavor (think lemon, vinegar, fermented foods)
And one thing I always remind patients this time of year:
irritability, tension, or feeling “stuck” can show up more in spring—it’s often a sign that qi isn’t moving as freely as it wants to.
So instead of pushing through it, support the flow.
The more you align with the season, the easier everything tends to feel 🤍🤍
