The only exception is if the immediate family specifically asks for a photo.

Otherwise, your phone should stay put away. A funeral is not a photo opportunity. It’s a time for presence and respect.

When is it okay to film at a funeral?

In general, your phone should be put away.

The only exceptions might be something ceremonial, such as military honors at the cemetery or Taps being played outdoors. Those moments are sometimes recorded out of respect and remembrance.

But during the service itself, your phone should not be out.
