We all know about the digestive system, the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system. But have you heard of your craniosacral system?

The craniosacral system consists of our skull bones, spine and spinal cord, sacrum, the meninges (membranes that surround our brain and spinal cord), cerebral spinal fluid, and other membranes within our cranium. Believe it or not, the bones that make up our skull aren't fixed in place! They have subtle movements and those movements are in relationship to the movement of your cerebral spinal fluid. Craniosacral therapy is all about releasing restrictions in the bones or membranes that make up your craniosacral system. When you release those restrictions, your craniosacral system is able to become more symmetrical and balanced which aids our whole body! Your craniosacral system is also closely connected to fascia. Fascia is a sheath that surrounds all muscles and organs in your whole body. So when you correct an imbalance in the craniosacral system, you impact the fascia which benefits the whole body.

Estrogen is extremely important and nourishing for the body! But we need it to be in balance. Too little estrogen or too much estrogen can lead to a variety of symptoms that MANY women are dealing with.

So what is so great about estrogen?
☀️ regulates the menstrual cycle telling the body when to start menstruating and when to ovulate
☀️ supports fertility by creating fertile cervical mucus and builds up our uterine lining

Are you OVER-working and UNDER-nourishing yourself?

Most of us are depleting our bodies on a daily basis. We don't get enough sleep. We prioritize working and making money over anything else. We are busy, busy, busy and don't take breaks. We choose food out of convenience and don't make time to prepare nourishing meals at home. We sit too much, hunched over our computer or phone. We binge watch TV shows and TikToks. We allow our body to feel stressed without taking measures to reduce those stressors or practice coping mechanisms. We spend most of our time inside. We don't move our bodies as much as we should.

And that constant depletion is leading to always feeling tired, being anxious, having headaches, experiencing gut issues, feeling inflammed, gaining weight, having joint pain, hormone imbalances, and the list goes on. I see patients with chronic conditions everyday and most of those chronic conditions are rooted in us over-working and under-nourishing ourselves.

How are we supposed to feel healthy when we are just depleting out bodies day after day?

So how do we flip that narritive and start OVER-NOURISHING ourselves?!
☀️ Sleep at least 8 hours every night
☀️ Go outside for at least 30 minutes everyday. Added bonus if you are barefoot and walk on the grass
☀️ Prioritize home cooked meals and eating a whole foods, plant-based diet + eggs + fish.
☀️ Exercise everyday for 30-60 minutes
☀️ Practice stress relieving exercises
☀️ Take deep breaths throughout the day to help relax your nervous system and consider adding in a meditation practice
☀️ Limit screen time to less than 60 minutes per day
☀️ Get off of facebook (after reading this post) and do something that nourishes your soul

It's time to start taking care of ourselves more! You only have one body, mind, and soul. Make the most of this one life and keep your body healthy!

Today is a BIG | HUGE | MONUMENTAL day for my profession! Wisconsin now has licensure for Naturopathic Doctors! YIPPEEE!!

Prior to today, I was licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) in Washington State and not Wisconsin. Why is that? Because Wisconsin had no regulation/licensure for NDs. This meant anyone could call themselves an ND in the state of WI (even those that did not graduate from an accredited medical school and pass their medical board exams...yikes!).

The other problem with not having licensure in WI is that I haven't been able to utilize my full scope of practice. NDs are trained in nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, counseling, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, and pharmacology. That's a lot of tools in our tool bag to heal and now I get to use all of these wonderful modalities (besides pharmaceutical prescribing) to their full capacity! With my WI ND licensure, I can now provide better, more comprehensive care to my patients! Hallelujah!

Thank you to all of you who advocated for Naturopathic Doctors to be licensed in the state of WI! This certainly helps me help you be healthier!!

Have you read ingredient labels recently? They are loaded with cane sugar, powdered sugar, high fructose corn syrup, palm oil, canola oil, natural flavors. It's hard to escape when you are buying processed food!

I recently ran across Karalynne Call on facebook and instagram who created a page called Just-Ingredients I highly recommend following her to learn more about easy alternatives you can make to keep those terrible ingredients out of your food and out of your body!

Or avoid those ingredient labels all together and start buying and eating whole foods!

We made it to the SPRING EQUINOX!!

There is so much to celebrate today and look forward to; longer days, more sunlight, warmth, the return of life and color!

Just as the Earth is undergoing changes, this is the perfect time of year to reflect those Earthly changes in your own being!

It's time to let go of the past and start living in the present.

Get rid of thoughts, items, and maybe even people that don't serve you. Choose to surround yourself with everything and anything that lights your soul on fire and makes you a better person.

It's time to come out of hibernation, move our bodies more, be more social, and to work on personal growth.

We are meant to change with the seasons! I hope the universe brings you some beautiful changes this spring :)
