We love our therapy dogs! This week, our staff and residents were visited by Chopper, the Rough Collie puppy and Gouda, the Labradoodle. Gouda is a good boy from our partnership with at Work LLC , and sweet Chopper belongs to our New Perspective Life Engagement Coach, Sharon. These lovely boys know how to impress with their clever tricks and snuggly personalities. See you again soon!

And just like that, our week of ageless adventures comes to a close. Our residents and staff spent today at a familiar place that always provides new experiences: Rides & Reins Tec Inc . We began by treating our hoofed friends Fiddle, Teeter and little Bullet to a spa session. Then, we admired Rusty, the senior mustang, as he showed off his spryness with a little ride from one of the volunteers. The big treat today was meeting Miles, a young Appaloosa, who is working through his therapy horse training. He did a marvelous job and got plenty of pets as a reward. We left the barn dusty and happy-- it was a beautiful finale to celebrate Assisted Living week.

Ageless Adventure meets Art. Today, our residents and staff toured MOWA, a gem in downtown West Bend. Every artist featured in this breathtaking gallery has a connection to our beloved state, whether by birth or through a transformational time spent. Several of our resident even had connections to the artists-- one took art classes with renowned “Magical Realist” John Wilde! The museum's Director of Development, Brianna Fischer, showed us all the best MOWA has to offer, and left us eager to return again soon.

Our week of adventuring continues with a visit to the 1889 Courthouse of West Bend. Part of the Tower Heritage Center, the courthouse is home to the city archivist, Armed Forces monument, and museum. Staff and residents alike marveled over beautiful architecture, antique garments, and much, much more. We encourage everyone to support their local museums and soak in the history that makes their own hometowns unique.

Today, for our community's outing adventure, we took a step back in time at the Ozaukee County Pioneer Village! Two wonderful docents guided us through Wisconsin's rich history, including a restored one-room schoolhouse, an 1800s trading post, and the original Cedarburg passenger train station. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day or more incredible trip.

A warm thank you to Rides & Reins Tec Inc for another memorable visit! Our residents and staff spent the morning visiting with and learning about the special horses that call this barn their home. We especially enjoyed getting to know Rusty, a mustang, who is 30 years old-- that's 90 in human years!

My mother-in-law, Betty, lived a full, vibrant life dedicated to helping others. After serving with distinction in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, she became the sole supporter for her family after a car accident left her husband disabled. To make ends meet, she worked two jobs while caring for four children. Through her circumstances, Betty developed an independent spirit that carried her through all of her life experiences.
Years later, as a widow living alone, Betty developed Alzheimer’s. While she learned to cope with the early stages of the disease, it was clear that as her condition advanced, she was struggling to maintain her strong, independent spirit.
Over the seven years that Betty lived with us, we learned to find personal ways to keep her secure, yet socially involved. Feeling like she was home, and not just visiting. We recalibrated what we did as a family to create a culture that protected her dignity while encouraging her independence. Ultimately it was Betty’s life and character that helped to frame what New Perspective is all about today. To help seniors live life on purpose and to age successfully.
So, as you walk through our communities and you happen to hear someone say, “What’s best for Betty?” you’ll know that it is our way of continually focusing everything we do towards the best interests of our residents. To help each resident live life on purpose, each moment of each day.
