Our bi-monthly Ladies' Tea is back! Representatives from the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce led a local trivia game that had us glad we donned our lovely thinking caps. The hour sped by, filled with laughter, conversation, and delicious refreshments. We'll be back in April!

After enjoying visits from the East High Varsity Dance Team, our residents and staff took a trip to the Silver Linings Art Center for the annual "Dance with our Stars" competition. It was wonderful to cheer for the girls on their home turf while they treated the audience to their state qualifying routines in-between competition rounds. Congrats again for placing 3rd in State and for an incredible night of dance!

Opportunities for growth and self-reflection come every day. Our residents of Betty's Harbor completed "Tree of Life" paintings using handprints and choosing words that represent the focus of their life as we look towards spring.

Riding the coattails of the lovely false spring, our residents and staff hopped on our community bus for a trip to The Mitchell Park Domes. The steamy Rainforest Dome was our first stop, lush and full of color. The Desert Dome wowed us with its incredibly succulents and cacti. Last but not least, we gazed at trains and flowers and added some silliness to the Show Dome. Wisconsin is home to so many incredible attractions, and we look forward to our next adventure.

Our staff and residents have partnered with the Washington County Humane Society for a very special program to socialize the dogs and other animals eagerly awaiting adoption. For our first ever "Storytime with Seniors", we visited the dogs, offering tall tales, words of encouragement, and a calming presence. We look forward to returning next month to a new group of pets-in-waiting. We encourage anyone ready to add to the family to stop in today-- we can attest to their excellent listening skills!

Mardi Gras at New Perspective West Bend saw us celebrating in style with a live show with Musik and a New Orleans classic, Rum Hurricanes. A very happy birthday for our very own Marlene B!

My mother-in-law, Betty, lived a full, vibrant life dedicated to helping others. After serving with distinction in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, she became the sole supporter for her family after a car accident left her husband disabled. To make ends meet, she worked two jobs while caring for four children. Through her circumstances, Betty developed an independent spirit that carried her through all of her life experiences.
Years later, as a widow living alone, Betty developed Alzheimer’s. While she learned to cope with the early stages of the disease, it was clear that as her condition advanced, she was struggling to maintain her strong, independent spirit.
Over the seven years that Betty lived with us, we learned to find personal ways to keep her secure, yet socially involved. Feeling like she was home, and not just visiting. We recalibrated what we did as a family to create a culture that protected her dignity while encouraging her independence. Ultimately it was Betty’s life and character that helped to frame what New Perspective is all about today. To help seniors live life on purpose and to age successfully.
So, as you walk through our communities and you happen to hear someone say, “What’s best for Betty?” you’ll know that it is our way of continually focusing everything we do towards the best interests of our residents. To help each resident live life on purpose, each moment of each day.
