NAMI Washington County - Wi The NAMI Welcome Center is a peer-run recovery center for those with mental illness and home to NAMI Washington County. NAMI Washington County, Inc.

We provide advocacy, education, and support for those affected by mental illness and public awareness about mental illness. is the local affiliate of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). We provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. All programs and services are confidential and free of charge. Our affiliate developed about 1999 as a grassroots group reaching out to those affected by mental illness. Our affiliate developed with an active group of peers (those living with a mental illness), working to bring peer support, recovery and education to our community. Together, peers and family members developed the Positive Image Center (now called the NAMI Welcome Center), recognized statewide as a Recovery Center. The NAMI Welcome Center offers peer-run programs and supports including the NAMI Peer-to-Peer Program and many other supports and recovery activities. Our family members run the NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program as well as twice-monthly family support meetings. Our affiliate also offers NAMI Basics, a program for parents of children diagnosed with a mental illness. Teens can to participate in a support program featuring art and expression. Teens (ages 13 -18, and still in high school) can participate in one of two weekly support groups, Teen Connections. Our local programs are offered free of charge. We offer an in-school presentational program for middle and high school students called NAMI Ending the Silence. It is intended to educate about mental illness as it appears in youth, help with recognizing suicidal thoughts, provide resources for young people, and combat the stigma surounding these topics. Support, Education and Advocacy have been the themes of our affiliate. We are a volunteer organization; our members have a passion to advocate for improved mental health care and supports. We are here to fight against the stigma that surrounds these illnesses. If you or a loved one is suffering, know that you are not alone, we are here to help. Our affiliate provides outreach activities in the community. To learn more about NAMI or mental illness contact us. We also offer NAMI In Our Own Voice Presentations. These presentations are available to a variety of groups in the community (civic, school, church or business) to hear from individuals who share their personal stories of recovery. And for faith communities, specifically, we offer the presentation "Bridges of Hope." is doing great things in our community, bringing hope, help and recovery to those who are affected by mental illness.

Young adults, between 18 - 24, and out of high school, can participate in “Let’s Connect,” a weekly support group. Expanding social skills and living skills are also part of the program. We offer an in-school presentational program for middle and high school students called NAMI Ending the Silence. It is intended to educate about mental illness as it appears in youth, help with recognizing suicidal thoughts, provide resources for young people, and combat the stigma surounding these topics.
