✨ Doula Spotlight ✨ Meet Brittany!

Brittany is a postpartum doula, mother of four, and a loss mama to five. These experiences have deeply shaped her compassion, empathy, and approach to care. With a background as a photographer, caregiver, and small business owner, she brings both creativity and grounded support into every home she enters.

Driven by a heartfelt desire to serve, Brittany is passionate about walking alongside mothers and families in the tender days after birth. She provides nurturing, attentive care so that each mother feels seen, supported, and never alone during one of life’s most beautiful, yet challenging transitions.

Brittany’s presence is rooted in understanding, warmth, and genuine connection, ensuring every family she supports feels held through their postpartum journey.

You can have the best doctor, deliver at a great hospital, and still feel overwhelmed, unsupported, and unsure in one of the biggest transitions of your life.

That’s the gap doulas fill.

Most women don’t choose to go without support, they just don’t fully understand what a doula actually does.

So many decisions are based on misconceptions:
that doula care is only for a certain type of mom,
that your partner or hospital team will be enough,
or that it’s a “nice to have” instead of something that truly changes your experience.

When you have someone focused on your comfort, your recovery, your mental health, and your transition into motherhood, everything feels different.

At Michigan Family Doulas, we support women through real life. We are there for you through C-sections, high-risk pregnancies, postpartum recovery, and everything in between.

✨Doula Spotlight! ✨Meet Alexandria, known as Ali - a certified Postpartum & Infant Care Doula who supports families through one of life’s most transformative seasons with presence, intention, and care.

Ali understands that motherhood and parenthood bring both new beginnings and moments of deep overwhelm. Her approach is rooted in creating a space where families can slow down, feel supported, and truly rest and digest as they adjust to life with a newborn.

With a background as an artist, Ali brings a creative and calming energy into the home- helping families find steadiness in the midst of change and nurturing both emotional and physical recovery during the postpartum period.

She considers it an honor to be invited into such an intimate chapter, walking alongside families as they expand, evolve, and step into this new version of themselves.

To meet Ali and explore our thoughtfully curated team of doulas, nannies, newborn care specialists and more at Michigan Family Doulas and Michigan Family Nannies, visit the link in our bio.

For most of modern history, the first forty days after birth were protected.

Across cultures, from la cuarentena in Latin traditions to zuò yuè zi in Chinese medicine and postpartum rest traditions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, there is a shared understanding:

A mother needs time to heal. The mother is cared for so she could care for her child.

These forty days are meant for
• deep rest
• warm, nourishing foods
• emotional care
• support from other women
• bonding with the baby

Today, that support system often doesn’t exist in the same way. Many mothers are expected to recover quickly while managing a newborn and a household.

This is where postpartum doulas help recreate the village- supporting rest, nourishment, newborn care, and emotional wellbeing during the fourth trimester.

Because when a mother is supported, the whole family benefits.

✨Doula Spotlight ✨ Meet Milah!

Milah is a dedicated postpartum doula and sleep trainer who supports families through the early days, weeks, and months with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Raised by a doula, Milah grew up immersed in the sacred and transformative postpartum season. Supporting new families is not simply her profession, it is woven into her story.

Her perspective on the needs of the newly postpartum parent is both intuitive and deeply informed. Milah creates a steady, nurturing presence in the home, ensuring parents feel seen, heard, and empowered as they navigate recovery, bonding, and the development of healthy, sustainable routines.

As one of Michigan Family Doulas’ resident twin specialists, Milah brings invaluable expertise to families welcoming multiples. If you are expecting twins - or more - she would be honored to help you build strong foundations and approach this season with confidence from day one.

If you are a birth doula, postpartum doula, newborn care specialist, lactation consultant, childbirth educator, or maternal health professional serving families in Michigan - this is for you.

I crested a LinkedIn group called Birth & Postpartum Doulas in Michigan to give our community a professional space to connect with each other.

So much of our work happens independently - in hospital rooms, in clients’ homes, and during the quiet hours of the fourth trimester. This group exists to foster collaboration over competition, encourage referrals across regions, share continuing education and resources, and strengthen the maternal care network statewide.

When birth workers are connected and supported, families receive better care.

If you serve Michigan families and want to build stronger professional connections, join us.

Let’s grow this community together! - Jodi 🤍
