MOHS surgery is the most effective technique for treating common non-melanoma skin cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. This procedure removes cancerous cells while sparing healthy tissue, resulting in minimal scarring.
Once the cancerous cells and impacted tissue layers are removed, our fellowship-trained and board-certified Mohs surgeons review them in a lab. Mohs surgery differs from excisional surgery because it is performed in stages, with lab testing conducted on-site after each stage.
With its high success rate, Mohs surgery is primarily recommended for high-risk non-melanoma skin cancer patients. High-risk skin cancers are typically located on areas such as the nose, eyelids, lips, ears, hands, feet and ge****ls.
Dr. Leonard Kerwin and Dr. Aaron Cetner are both fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons with decades of experience.
