Slow breathing trains your heart! ❤️

Here’s the science.

The physiology:
🫁 Pressure sensors in your neck and chest (baroreceptors) regulate your heart rate in a continuous feedback loop
🫁 That loop cycles roughly once every ten seconds
🫁 At 6 breaths per minute, your breath synchronizes with that loop
🫁 The two systems reinforce each other, producing the widest possible heart rate oscillation

Why higher HRV matters:
❤️ More adaptive heart that recovers faster from stress
❤️ Lower resting blood pressure and heart rate
❤️ Reduced risk of heart attack, stroke, and arrhythmia
❤️ Stronger vagal tone, your body’s built-in brake system
❤️ Lower cortisol and reduced chronic inflammation
❤️ Better blood flow to your brain, kidneys, and heart muscle

Low HRV is a strong independent predictor of cardiac events; high HRV is associated with lower resting blood pressure, faster stress recovery, reduced inflammation, and lower all-cause mortality.

We often say deep breathing is medicine and it is so true!
