Do you often get feel stuck, anxious, and hopeless about the never-ending negative thoughts you have?
I'm Lyndy Barnard. I'm the owner and clinical Director for Mind and Strength. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I've worked in Mental health for 15 years.
I approach therapy differently. Changing your thoughts is not the first step in therapy. Before you can change your thoughts, you need to reconnect with yourself and your body.
This holistic approach integrates movement, nutrition and mental health therapy.
WHY?
➡️ Mental Health and Physical are intertwined. You cannot treat one without the other
➡️ Grounding and Coping skills to alleviate loneliness, trauma, and anxiety or other problems are rooted in somatic expereinces designed to help you reconnect with your body.
➡️ Small improvements in sleep, movement and nutrition can have positive impact on thought processes.
A true holistic approach is vital to making lasting changes to your negative thoughts about yourself, situations, or life.
I lost a large amount of weight after years of yo-yo dieting. I thought then I knew how to "help women” feel more confident and combat negative thoughts through weight loss.
❗️I gained the weight back during the pandemic. I felt shame, I felt guilt. Then I realized how much mental energy went into “trying to keep the weight off” and buying into the “diet culture.” I still battled all the negative thoughts about myself and the fear of rejection if I gained weight back.
✴️ ThrougH that experience, I've learned true acceptance and resiliency comes from self-acceptance and body acceptance.
🏊♀️ This process starts with me maintaing a working relationship with joyful movement and nutrition. I like starting my morning with a workout, it helps my mindset. I no longer shame myself when I mess up. I CHOOSE activities in my life because they make me feel good- not because I am told that’s what I “should” do.
I'm on a mission to help you reconnect with yourself!
