I am only where I am because of the women who came before me. There was a time not long ago I wouldn’t be able to have my own checking account much less my own business. I get to help women (and men) every single day find themselves, their strength, and their ability to overcome.

It’s women like my mother Theresa Morse who made it possible. She was one of the first women to serve in both the Army and the Navy. She trained other female officers. She got some very broken soldiers back on their feet working as a PT. She was medically retired from the military and went on to work in health care before getting her Doctorate. She enacted policy change every step of the way.

Oh and while doing all of that she raised a family with her husband who was always an equal partner in her life.

Today's Topic: Unsolicited Parenting Advice

Step One: Don't listen to it. Be the parent you want to be, not the parent someone else says you should be.

With that said, here is my controversial unsolicited parenting advice that you don't have to — and shouldn't — listen to if you don't want to.

If your child is having a random tantrum and you can't console them, do a task they would throw a fit over anyway: clip their nails, brush their hair, change the diaper, give the vitamins, vacuum, etc.

Why wait until they're in a good mood and then ruining it? Plus, once you finish the thing they dislike, they usually forget what started the original tantrum and move on.

Win–win in my book.

Public Service Announcement for my seasonal affect disorder/ depression peeps:

The weather outside (at least in the West Boylston) is currently gorgeous. Summy and you only need a light sweatshirt to be comfortable. Go outside and get some nice sun on your face and enjoy the fresh air while its here.

We are over the hill of the longest nights but we still want to make some dopamine while the sun shines while we wait for spring.

988 is now live for calls and texts.

To summarize the full article is one sentence: 988 is the equivalent to 911 but specialized for mental health calls.

It can be used by anyone at any time for any mental health concern. You DON’T need to be suicidal to use it but of course can if you are. Anxiety, depression, psychosis, loneliness, worried about a family member, and so much more are all reasons you can use 988.

You are never alone.

Mental health advocates hope the new hotline will make it easier to get support if you're in crisis or helping someone who is. Here's how it works and what could stand in its way.
