NE MI Emergency Management : Serving Northern Great Lakes Bay Area We are dedicated to planning, preparing, responding, recovering, and mitigation disasters natural and man made in northeastern Michigan.

Emergency Management Coordination for Arenac, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Counties Associated with Northern Great Lakes Bay Emergency Management public alerting program( Smart911 NGLBEM ) & CERT Teams in each of the counties. Our purpose is to connect resources such as Community Emergency Response Team, (CERT) RACES (HAM radio), Red Cross, Salvation Army, Posse, Auxilary Police, Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, Haz-Mat, Emergency Medical & Ambulance Services, Search & Rescue, Regional, State, & Federal Emergency Management, Local, State, & Federal Government, National Weather Service, US Coast Guard, Civil Air Patrol, Salvation Army, MI Volunteer Registry, MI Volunteer Defense Force, VOADS, & other branches, divisions, & task forces as appropriate to a given situation with each other & the public & to assist in advance to provide them with opportunity for appropriate education & resources in addition to properly overseeing response & necessary paperwork in an actual emergency.

** Hazard Beach water for Lake Huron from Arenac County up to Presque Isle*
Please avoid swimming tomorrow in Lake huron.

The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement at 12:34 p.m. EDT on Saturday valid for Sunday between 6 a.m. EDT and 11 p.m. EDT for Presque Isle, Alpena, Alcona, Iosco and Arenac counties.

The weather service describes, "Dangerous swimming conditions are expected due to high waves of 3 to 6 feet and rip currents."

"Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers," explains the weather service. "Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions."

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.

Flood Watch issued July 16 at 7:33PM EDT until July 17 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Ga***rd MI
Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms this afternoon and into this
evening has led to localized areas of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall,
leading to saturated soils in places. Additional showers and storms
with torrential rainfall will be possible later this evening into
tonight, which may lead to an additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall
in some areas. This could lead to instances of flooding tonight,
with particular emphasis on poor draining / urban areas and low
spots.

* WHAT...Additional torrential rainfall potential over areas that
already saw heavy rainfall this afternoon. Localized additional
rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches possible by Thursday morning.

* WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan, including the
following counties, Alcona, Arenac, Crawford, Gladwin, Iosco,
Kalkaska, Manistee, Missaukee, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Roscommon and
Wexford.

* WHEN...Through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Any flooding will occur easiest and quickly in poor drainage and
urban areas.

The Ogemaw Arenac Amateur Radio Society will be at the Ogemaw Nature park, 5626 W Rose City Rd. West Branch MI 48661 on June 28, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST working Field Day.

The ARRL Field Day is a national event that exercise emergency communications while educating the general public. The best way to learn emergency preparedness is by doing.
