ANOTHER TRUE STORY ABOUT TRIMMING HOOVES, NOT HORSESā¦
If you only learn to trim using one method⦠this is the only method you will learn. If you believe this method is the only way to trim a horse, this is the only method you are ever likely to use. But what if there is another way to trim a hoof? What if this would better serve the needs of the horse? What if your attachment to a method is limiting your ability to help the horse, their human, and ultimately, your evolution and growth too?
For over 10 years I diligently applied a method which I now realise didnāt provide optimum health or healing for horses. I documented both hoof and body and blamed unhealthy posture on everything but the trim I IMPOSED on the hoof and horse. Donāt misunderstand me, I still helped most of the horses I trimmed, but I became unfulfilled, even frustrated and thankfully, I was still open to learn new approachesā¦.
A friend and client introduced me to a different method, and after exploring this, I explored more approaches, which led to where I am now. I still have an open and curious mind and ask each and every horse, each and every trim, on each and every hoof, ācan I do more to help you?āā¦. and to this day, I remain open to new learningā¦, perhapos more so than ever before!
I am both student and teacher, and recognise the value in being open minded, curious and place my own, the horses and humans highest good always at the forefront of all I do, before defending a method. I have nothing to defend, nothing to prove and nothing to be fearful of in my practiceā¦. Tune in, trim and observe the horse with curiosity, document and discuss, and repeatā¦
Can you ask the same of your horses professional team members? In tention matters⦠if your team members intend to defend a method, this will lead to a different result than if your team members intend to only help the horse. Placing another being before ones own needs requires grace and non egotism⦠this isnt easyā¦.
