As therapists, we’re trained to tolerate what most people try to fill—silence.

That quiet moment in session?
It’s often where the real work is happening.

Clients may pause, deflect, or even joke (“none of your business”)—
not because they’re resistant,
but because they’re navigating something vulnerable.

Silence allows space for:
• reflection
• emotional processing
• trust-building

We don’t rush those moments.
We hold them.

Because when someone feels safe enough…
the words come.

Your body knows you’re stressed… even when your mind says you’re fine.”

As a therapist, I see this all the time.

Stress doesn’t just live in your thoughts.
It lives in your body.

• Tight shoulders
• A knot in your stomach
• Jaw clenching
• Headaches
• Feeling exhausted but wired

Your nervous system is holding onto something your mind may not have processed yet.

Your body keeps the score.

When we slow down, breathe, and become aware of where stress is sitting in the body, we start reconnecting the mind and body.

Sometimes healing doesn’t start with thinking differently.
Sometimes it starts with listening to what your body has been trying to say.

Parent Tip of the Week 👯‍♀️

Sometimes the smallest shift in how we respond to our children can make the biggest difference. Parenting doesn’t come with a manual, but small tools can help make hard moments easier.

Try this tip this week and see what changes.

Stay tuned for next week’s Parent Tip of the Week — you won’t want to miss it.

Some children aren’t ignoring you — they just may not be able to respond right away.

They could be fully absorbed in what they’re doing, still processing your words, or feeling overwhelmed, tired, or confused about what’s being asked. And when directions are repeated over and over, kids can actually tune them out even more.

What looks like “not listening” is often a child having difficulty with attention, understanding, or managing their emotions.

When we pause, get their attention first, and give clear, simple directions instead of repeating ourselves or assuming defiance, we often see a big shift.

Children respond better when they feel supported and understood — not controlled.

If this sounds familiar at home or in your classroom, you’re definitely not alone.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do… is pause.

Like the ocean, our minds need moments of stillness to reset. When we give ourselves space for peace, relaxation, and self-care, we allow our nervous system to settle and our thoughts to become clearer.

Take a breath.
Step outside.
Find your moment of calm today.

Your well-being deserves it. 🌊☀️

Spring ahead tonight ⏰🌷

Longer days, more sunlight, and a new season of growth.

Just like nature, kids and teens are always growing and changing. Sometimes that growth looks like learning new coping skills, building confidence, or finding better ways to handle big feelings.

This season is a great reminder to slow down, check in, and make space for self-care — for both kids and the adults supporting them.

Growth takes time, patience, and support. 🌱

Sometimes in therapy, the goal isn’t to “win the game” — it’s to help the child learn the skills the game can teach.

With some kids, especially those who struggle with frustration or losing, we might change the rules of the game a little. Maybe in UNO we play cooperatively, take turns helping each other, or practice “good game” moments.

Therapy isn’t about forcing a child into a rigid structure — it’s about meeting them where they are and using the moment to build emotional regulation, flexibility, and confidence.

Sometimes changing the rules of the game is exactly what helps a child learn how to play the game of life. 🎲🧠💛
