Three years ago, I took a leap of faith and built something that mattered to me. What I didn’t know then was how much this journey would stretch me, humble me, and shape me as both a therapist and a person.

I’m incredibly grateful for the growth, the lessons, the late nights, the risk-taking, and the people who supported me along the way. Building a practice from the ground up is not easy, but it has been deeply meaningful.

Mental Health Empowerment was created from a simple belief: that people deserve to feel seen, supported, and empowered to take control of their lives. I’m proud of what this has become and excited for what’s still ahead.

Here’s to three years of showing up, learning, and staying committed to purpose.

There comes a point when you realize that not everything deserves your energy.
You can’t pour into work, relationships, or goals if you’re constantly running on empty.
Self-care isn’t a reward for when everything is done, it’s the reason you’ll have enough strength to keep going.

When you choose to rest, set boundaries, say no, or step away… that’s not weakness. That’s wisdom.
It’s understanding that peace is worth more than people-pleasing.
That healing is worth more than hustling.
That you are worth more than what you produce.

So if it costs your mental health, your peace, or your self-respect, it’s too expensive.
Because at the end of the day, self-care > everything.

True Story Time: Growing up I was quite nerdy. I was in the Math Club, Computer club, Chess Club, Band….you name it. So of course I was teased and picked on. The one name that I was called and that stuck with me was Urkel. I don’t even think anyone in middle school knew my name. So of course I had a struggle with liking the show because I was typecast as this character and I didn’t even make money from it. lol. Plus I wasn’t even that nerdy. I wasn’t clumsy or had a high voice but that was what they called me. I remember stepping out my comfort zone to do a modeling show. I model a shirt and a group of classmates stiff and shouted URKEL!! Now, I grew up and learned how to embrace that nerdy side of me and love myself unapologetically. So, it was a no brainer that when was writing a book, I had to snag a signed copy. Hell, I could have used that title for my own book as well. Looking forward to a good read as I practice some self care during my slow times.

Know where you stand and communicate your needs! It's all about being clear, consistent, and confident. And remember, it's not their job to respect your boundaries—it's yours to uphold them.

Why does this matter? Without boundaries, it's easy to lose yourself, feel overwhelmed, and end up burnt out. But when you set and maintain strong boundaries, you create space for growth, self-love, and thriving relationships. 🌱✨
