One of the most common myths about human trafficking is that it always involves kidnapping by a stranger. In reality, trafficking often happens through emotional manipulation, threats, financial control, or false promises.

Survivors may be trafficked by someone they know and trust, which can make it harder to recognize and leave unsafe situations. Understanding the reality of trafficking helps communities respond with compassion instead of judgment.

So grateful for our partnership with West Whiteland Township Police Department and their help with bringing this critically needed training to Chester County and beyond! And a huge thank you to the Foxwynd Foundation (DAF), this training would not have been possible without their financial support!

West Whiteland Township Police Department was glad to open our building to support Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training hosted by The Crimes Victims' Center of Chester County (CVC). Deputy District Attorney Kate Wright and Det. Mike Buchmann presented the Roles of Law Enforcement and Prosecution in Sexual Assault cases. Our strong partnership with the CVC helps expand access to trauma-informed medical care for s*xual assault victims across Chester County.

Nurses from Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties participated in this training and will become certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. Congratulations and thank you for your selfless service to victims of s*xual assault.

Trafficking doesn’t always look the way we expect, and it often goes unrecognized. This month, we’re sharing facts to raise awareness, challenge myths, and connect survivors with support.
