Thank you so much to the Borough of Oxford and Mayor of Oxford, Philip Harris for helping us to support victims/survivors and to help raise awareness of the impact of sexual violence in our community!

April is Sexual Violence Awareness Month in Oxford.

In a regularly scheduled meeting of Borough Council on Monday evening, Mayor of Oxford, Philip Harris presented a proclamation to Deni Tobin, from the The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc. (CVC), declaring April as "Sexual Violence Awareness Month" in the Oxford Borough. This month blue ribbons align streets in the Borough to raise awareness about sexual abuse and prevention. The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc. seeks to prevent the experience of sexual violence through prevention efforts and assists victims. The proclamation asks all residents to speak out against sexual violence in our community and to support the efforts of CVC and other advocacy groups.

April is in important month at CVC, it's Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time for us to bring our community together to acknowledge the reality of sexual violence, support survivors, and highlight primary sexual violence prevention.

At CVC, we see every day how vital it is to create spaces where survivors are believed, supported, and empowered. Awareness is more than recognition, it’s action. It’s having conversations that may feel uncomfortable, educating ourselves and others, and standing up for a culture rooted in respect and accountability.

We were honored to welcome Senator Carolyn Comitta, Rep. Chris Pielli , Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste, Chester County Commissioner Eric Roe, County Commissioner Marian Moskowitz and Commissioner Josh Maxwell as well as so many others from our community to kick off last week at our office in West Chester. Especially grateful that Respect Together CEO Yolanda Edrington was also able to join us from Harrisburg!

We are grateful that they join us this month, and every month, to stand with survivors, support our primary prevention, and be part of the change. We know that together, we can make a difference.
