Today’s National EMS Week theme is Save-A-Life Day. To honor today’s theme, we are sharing a recent story of survival and teamwork-
During our EMS Week Community Festival this past weekend, we had the pleasure of reuniting with someone very special.
On September 24, 2025, Chris, pictured in the center of this photo, was working at a facility in West Goshen Township when he suddenly collapsed in cardiac arrest. Without hesitation, his coworker, Kristen, immediately began CPR.
Kristen continued lifesaving efforts until officers from the West Goshen Township Police Department arrived. The officers continued CPR, applied an AED, and delivered rapid defibrillation. Moments later, paramedics from Good Fellowship Ambulance, along with personnel from Goshen Fire Company, arrived and took over patient care. Crews delivered multiple additional defibrillations, administered medications, and provided advanced airway support.
The effort to save Chris lasted nearly 40 minutes before he regained a pulse on scene. He was then stabilized and transported to a local hospital. We are incredibly happy to report that, because of the extraordinary teamwork and rapid actions of everyone involved, Chris made a full recovery.
This past weekend, Chris graciously attended our Community Festival to finally meet and help recognize the individuals involved in saving his life. Opportunities like this are rare in EMS, and we are grateful to have shared in such an incredible outcome.
In recognition of this outstanding teamwork and lifesaving care, the Chester County EMS Council, Inc.. presented the following awards after nominations submitted by Good Fellowship Ambulance:
• Citizens Award: Kristen, Chris’s coworker
• Clinical Save Commendation: Officer Will Behrndt and Officer Brooke OBrien, West Goshen Township Police Department
• Clinical Save Commendation: Paramedic Corporal Tommy Flynn, Paramedic Lieutenant Tim Kelly, and Advanced EMT Alex Scorsone, Good Fellowship Ambulance
• Clinical Save Commendation: FF/EMT Dave Meadows and FF/EMT Tom Dobbins, Goshen Fire Company
Several officials from West Goshen Township were also on hand for the recognition. Congratulations to everyone involved on an incredible save and an amazing outcome.
