The Hickman Friends Senior Community of West Chester The Hickman is a senior living community located in the heart of West Chester, PA.

The Hickman was founded in 1891 by two Quaker women who recognized the need for care and support of older adults in their community. They sought to build a safe and affordable home for such individuals to help them lead dignified, fulfilling lives.

What a spooktacular couple of days we’ve had celebrating Halloween! We kicked things off with a festive parade featuring the students from West Chester Friends School, which is always a highlight for our residents.

Later, staff showed off their creative costumes during our annual Halloween contest while entertainer Debbie Feeser kept the energy high with her wonderful music, celebrating our October birthdays. And of course, no celebration would be complete without a delicious pumpkin spice cake baked by our talented Director of Dining, Rodney Sykes.

A big thank-you to everyone who joined in the fun especially Community Life and our volunteers from West Chester University (phiek_wcu). Residents and staff truly had a blast! 🧡

We were delighted to welcome Teacher Mel’s 3rd-grade class from West Chester Friends School for another wonderful visit to work on arts and crafts in our Darlington Neighborhood.

Each month, WCFS students bring their smiles, curiosity, and friendship to our residents. These visits are part of The Hickman’s vibrant intergenerational programming, which fosters meaningful connections across generations and strengthens our bond with the West Chester community.
