Free to choose. (Yes, that’s a good thing)

Women facing an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy are typically making decisions about their pregnancy based on other people and factors in their life- not just their own wants and desires.

Women come to Birthright feeling immense pressure from parents and other family members and an alarming number are being told to abort from the father of the baby. One study published by Cureus Journal of Medical Science in 2023 found that of the 226 survey respondents who reported a history of abortion, 61% reported high levels of pressure. The study also concluded that women who admitted to feeling pressured to have an abortion also reported more negative emotions and sadness regarding their abortion and reported more disruptions to their daily life as a result of their past abortion.

Birthright of West Chester has been serving women since 1982 and so we are well aware of these correlations. At Birthright we pride ourselves on being a safe space for women to freely talk one-on-one with a trained counselor to get to the heart of what she and only she wants. When you remove her from the person pressuring her to abort and talk out the challenges weighing on her, she finally becomes free to be herself and free to choose life!

Four things to know about Birthright in honor of July 4th 🇺🇸

1. Our program is designed to foster our client’s I N D E P E N D E N C E with the help of referrals, emotional support, and coaching services provided by Birthright counselors.

2. All of our services are F R E E! We offer free pregnancy testing, free maternity and baby clothes, and free diapers and wipes available monthly when you enroll as a client.

3. Birthright’s mission statement is “It is the R I G H T of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the R I G H T of every child to be born.” This is why Birthright exists- to give alternative options (adoption; and parenting with support) to women who think abortion is their only choice.

4. We have the privilege of working with women and moms willing to be B R A V E despite difficult circumstances and unplanned challenges. We have walked alongside thousands of these women in our 42+ year history in West Chester and we are so very proud of how far each of them have come!

We wish everyone a Happy and safe 4th of July and we can’t wait to hear all about your weekend when we reopen Monday morning at 9:30!
