✨ A night to remember ✨

Our Prom was nothing short of magical—filled with laughter, dancing, unforgettable entrances, and moments that truly mattered. Seeing our supported individuals shine, celebrate, and just be themselves… yeah, that’s what it’s all about. 💃🕺

We couldn’t have pulled off a night this special without some incredible community partners:

💙 Thank you to Civitan Club of Columbia, SC for your continued support
🚓 Shoutout to Richland County Sheriff’s Department for keeping the night safe and fun
🚐 Huge love to Charlie Evans for rolling in style with the iconic 1964 VW Van
🚗 Thank you to Shive’s Funeral Home for providing the limos (talk about a grand entrance!)
🎓 Appreciation to Ben Lippen School & CIU for your support and volunteers
🎧 And to our DJ(s)—you kept the dance floor packed all night (if you see this, we owe you a tag!)

This night was powered by community, connection, and a whole lot of joy. 💫

Shawn was on his way to law school at USC — with a future full of promise ahead of him.

But one decision changed everything.

After an accident caused by drinking and driving, Shawn sustained a traumatic brain injury that completely altered the course of his life.

Today, he’s using his story for something bigger. 💛

At the Babcock Center’s Phoenix Center, Shawn has found community, connection, and a new purpose. He also shares his experience with high school students through the ThinkFirst program — speaking honestly about the consequences of drinking and driving in hopes of preventing others from going through what he did.

Because his story isn’t just about what happened — it’s about what he’s doing now to make a difference.

What started as an asthma attack on St. Patrick’s Day changed Charonda’s life in ways she never expected.

During that medical emergency, she sustained a brain injury that now makes short-term memory a daily challenge.

But Charonda is so much more than that.

She’s a mother. A friend. And someone who continues to show up with strength, even on the hardest days. 💛

At the Babcock Center’s Phoenix Center, Charonda finds joy in connection — spending time with others, building friendships, and being part of a community that supports her every step of the way.

Her story is a powerful reminder that even when life changes in an instant, love, identity, and connection remain.

Brandon’s life changed in a way no one expects.

During a routine, non-related surgery, he experienced a brain injury — a moment that reshaped his path forward.

But Brandon is more than that moment.

He’s a father. He’s a tattoo artist. And he’s someone who continues to show up, connect, and find joy in everyday life. 💛

At the Babcock Center’s Phoenix Center, Brandon enjoys spending time with others, building friendships, and being part of a community that understands and supports him.

His story is a reminder that even when life takes an unexpected turn, who you are — your passions, your identity, your purpose — still matters.

On his way to work at the Library of Congress, Donnie Branham never expected his life to change in an instant.

After being hit by a truck, Donnie went missing for days — his family searching for answers — before he was finally found in the hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

What followed was a long road of recovery, uncertainty, and rebuilding.

Today, Donnie has found something powerful on the other side of that journey — connection. 💛

At the Babcock Center’s Phoenix Center, he spends his days socializing, building friendships, and being part of a community that supports and uplifts him.

Because healing isn’t just physical — it’s about belonging.

Donnie’s story is a reminder that even after life’s most unexpected moments, there is still joy, still purpose, and still a place to call your own.

Belated birthday shoutout to our President & CEO, Thoyd Warren! 🎉

We celebrated with the “anything but a birthday balloon” trend… and let’s just say the creativity did not disappoint.

We’re grateful for Thoyd’s leadership, his steady support of our mission, and his willingness to be a great sport when we turn the office into a balloon circus. Thanks for everything you do for Babcock Center and the people we serve.

Hope it was a fantastic birthday! 🎈

When Veronica Haynes was just 10 years old, she was hit by a car — a moment that would change the course of her life.

Recovery wasn’t easy, but she wasn’t alone. Her grandmother stood beside her every step of the way, supporting her through the long rehabilitation journey and helping her keep moving forward. 💛

Today, Veronica is a Documentation Specialist at the Babcock Center, where she has been making a difference for nearly 10 years. Her story is one of perseverance, family support, and finding purpose through lived experience.

Veronica’s journey reminds us that healing takes strength — and that the people who believe in us can make all the difference.

This is another powerful story in our My Brain, My Story campaign.

Watch Veronica’s story and help us celebrate the resilience behind it.

A fall down the stairs at six years old changed Khalid Robinson’s life forever.

The accident caused a traumatic brain injury and a hematoma — something no child or family ever expects to face. But Khalid’s story isn’t defined by that moment.

Today, at 30 years old, Khalid is thriving at the Babcock Center’s Phoenix Center and recently graduated from Midlands Technical College with his Associate’s Degree in Human Services. 🎓

His journey is one of resilience, determination, and proving that your story is bigger than the obstacles you face.

Khalid is the first voice in our My Brain, My Story campaign — a series sharing real stories of individuals living with brain injury and the paths they’ve built forward.

💛 Watch Khalid’s story and help us celebrate what’s possible.
