Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Shannon brings deep community roots and a strong commitment to maternal and family health to our team. 💛

With a Master’s in Individual and Family Development and a Bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Sciences Business (Child Development concentration) — both from the illustrious South Carolina State University — she comes with powerful academic and personal passion. 📚🎓

Certified as a Lactation Specialist, Community-Based Doula, and Community Health Worker, Shannon has dedicated her career to building trust, advocating for equity, and ensuring every voice is heard in both research and care.

As our Community Engagement and Patient Recruitment Coordinator, she connects communities with the research and resources they deserve to thrive.

Outside of work, Shannon enjoys traveling with her family, swimming, and exploring arts and crafts. 🧳🏖️🎨

Meet Cassie Reid, our Clinical Study Manager of Biocentric Health Research Center! She's most definitely our Shining Star and someone you can always depend on to Brighten everyone's day! And she is funtayyyyyy --totally a VIBE, Cassie's humor and fun personality is unmatched:

😋Favorite Food: Nutella and cheese fries (but not together) one right after the other is great though so it satisfies my never-ending sweet-salty cycle.

🚴‍♂️🎳 Favorite Hobby: Diamond Art, Spartan Training, Toes in the Sand-Drink in Hand

💊 Favorite Clinical Trial Study: Abbvie/Endometriosis - Because someone once said I adopted it so here I am just loving it. (Helps that the monitor is amazing too!)

🫧 Favorite Holiday: My kid’s Birthdays – best days everrrrrrrrr!!

🌿 Favorite Thing About Working in Clinical Research Industry: I really enjoy seeing a study to the end so that we can learn of the outcomes – and then it feels really good to know we contributed to that.

📺 Favorite TV Show: Wentworth, Prison Break, Shameless, Handmade’s Tale, Grey’s Anatomy

📚 Favorite Book: ‘Many Lives, Many Masters’, ‘A Child Called It’, most recent read ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’, all my audiobooks have been self -help/psychology based

🎵 Favorite Song: Definitely depends on mood and situation!! Sweet Lady (Tyrese) I swear that man is looking into my eyes as he is singing to me! Just Fine (Mary J. Blige) the first time Skyla sang “I like what I see when I’m looking at me when I’m walkin' past the mirror” I knew this song would be forever special 💗 -- my younger days Trina and Lil Kim were on repeat.

😊 Favorite Things about Biocentric: obviously coworkers!!!!, good conversations, flexibility, developing rapport with participants from all different backgrounds
