March 18, 1938 – March 13, 2026

Cecelia Lucretia McCarty passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2026 and now is in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her husband of 60 years, Robert Lane McCarty, lovingly took care of Lucretia, especially when her health was declining. She was born in Horry County, SC on March 18, 1938 to her late parents, Sam Grier Watts and Martha Grace Rhodes Watts.

Lucretia grew up on a farm in Horry County where she and her siblings helped with the crops and various chores. She left Loris and moved to Columbia, SC where her two older brothers, Billy and Ken, were settled with their families. It wasn’t long before she met Lane and they were married. Lucretia was loved by everyone she met. Family was so dear to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Lucretia and Lane always had a big garden. You could count on their preserved fruits and vegetables being part of their meals throughout the years. Lucretia was a great cook and also an avid gardener. Her yard was always beautiful. She knew how to make plants grow and thrive.

Before she was no longer able to, Lucretia was an active member of Northside Baptist Church where she was a member of Life Group “Lovers of Christ.”

In addition to her parents, Lucretia was predeceased by brothers, William O. Watts, Kenneth S. Watts (Jean), Johnny G. Watts (Alvida) and Daniel G. Watts (Cheryl).

She is survived by brother, Rayford W. Watts (Bethel); sister, Dianne W. Vaught (Dewey); son, Mark McCarty (Christa); grandchildren, Kendall McCarty (Caitlin), Matthew McCarty (Lindsey) and Kayla McCarty; and great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Lakyn, and Cecelia Anne.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel of Hope, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29072. The family will receive friends following the service.

Betty Ervin Rogers went to be with her Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in Heaven on March 4, 2026.

Betty was born Effie Elizabeth Ervin in Kingstree, SC to Samuel James Ervin and Louise Brock Ervin on January 3, 1938. She grew up on “The Wedge” farm in the Indiantown community near Hemingway, SC. Betty was the oldest of six children. Betty grew up attending Indiantown Presbyterian Church and graduated from Indiantown High School. After starting Winthrop University, Betty paused her education and married Ernest Timmons of Lake City. Betty had two children, Al and Liz Timmons, before the untimely death of Ernest on February 14, 1961. Betty eventually continued her education, graduating from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in education. While attending USC, Betty met Monroe Rogers. After teaching briefly in Johnsonville, SC, Betty and Monroe were married and she moved to Columbia, along with Al and Liz. Betty was a wonderful, caring mother and homemaker. After Al and Liz graduated, Betty went to work for Bankers Trust that eventually became Bank of America. She was the branch manager for the Gervais Street location in downtown Columbia, SC. Betty frequently volunteered her time to help others. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer as well as helped transport cancer patients to various appointments.

Betty and Monroe were members of Platt Springs United Methodist Church for over fifty years. Betty loved her church and was devoted to serving in various capacities there. Betty was a long-time member of the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class and served as treasurer. She was head of the Bereavement Team, leader of the church counters and participated as a counter. She was on a committee to make Easter baskets for shut-ins as well as calling and checking on those who were shut-in or sick. Betty also helped with putting together boxes for Christmas. Caring for others and serving was a priority for Betty and something she felt called to do.

Betty was predeceased by Monroe, her parents, Sam and Louise Ervin, two brothers Robert Ervin and Sam Ervin III. She is survived by daughter, Liz Timmons of Columbia; son, Al Timmons of Chapin; daughter-in- law, Vera Timmons; two grandsons, Zach and Josh Timmons; brother, John Ervin of Charleston; sisters, Mary Louise Davis of Florence and Carol Tucker of Concord, NC; as well as nieces and nephews.

Betty was a kind, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, neighbor, and friend. Betty was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandsons traveling, playing games, and visiting attractions. She was a kind, unselfish, gentle southern woman who made a positive impact on many lives and was loved by so many. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord.

Services will be at Platt Springs United Methodist Church on March 28th at 11am. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made her church, Platt Springs United Methodist Church, 3215 Platt Springs Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170.

Betty Morris Yandle, widow of Walter H. Yandle, Sr., has gone to be with her Lord on March 8, 2026 and is walking the streets of gold with the love of her life, Walter. She was born in Winnsboro, SC to Nannie Mae and George Morris on September 9, 1933 and was a loving wife to Walter for 59 years before his death.

Betty and Walter were role models for their family, with God and family as a cornerstone of their lives together. They were always serving in the church, and you could find Walter and Betty singing together in a quartet or the choir, serving on church boards and committees and Betty would be active in the Food Pantry mission in her later years. Betty was a member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene.

Betty was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and was known for feeding her family every Sunday after church and at every holiday celebration. Her chicken salad, dressing and chocolate layer cakes were the best, but it was the love and gathering of family that made the meals so special.

Betty is survived by her three sons, Walter “Doug” Yandle Jr. (Pam), Mike Yandle (Janice), and Don Yandle (Patti); along with 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Walter Yandle; her sister, Eloise Elkins; her brother, Caroll Morris; along with her grandson, Jason Yandle.

A funeral service led by Pastor Bill Harmon of West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Caughman Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Oaks of Lexington for their care and compassion in her final days. And Dr. William Korman for his care and compassion over the years.

During her career in the search and rescue division of the Mexican Navy, Frida the rescue dog assisted first responders in major disasters in Haiti and Ecuador, and across Mexico. Even in retirement, she continued her service by training other dogs before she died on November 15, 2022. On November 24, 2022, the Navy held a memorial service attended by Frida’s human and canine colleagues. Her urn was placed in the base of her statue at Naval headquarters, serving as a monument to her memory.

Marvin, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday February 10, 2026, at his home in Lexington.

He was born in Flat Creek, SC to Lossie and Ola Lucas. After three years in the United States Air Force, he married Joyce in July of 1962. He worked 31 years in the security equipment business,18 of those for his own company. When he wasn't working, he was spending time with his family or watching football, especially if his Gamecocks were playing.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, as well as his six siblings: Evelyn, Irene, Reba, Eugene, Shorty and Bill. He is survived by his daughter Kim Hutto (Michael), his grandsons Austin and Zachary, and his nonbiological granddaughter, Jade Hutto.

The memorial service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home at Southland Memorial Gardens West Columbia.

November 20, 1969 – February 13, 2026

Brian Westley DeLoach, of Lexington, SC, born November 20, 1969, passed away on February 13, 2026. He was the son of the late Gerald Brant DeLoache and Marie Hutto DeLoach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Roxcy DeLoach Martin, and his brothers, Tracy DeLoach and Terry DeLoach.

Survivors include his son, Brian Westley DeLoach II; his daughter, Ashlyn Cooper; his niece, Melanie Martin; his nephew, Jeremy Martin; and his great-nieces, Meredith Spire, Elizabeth Humphries, Marie Martin, and Maggie Martin. He loved his children deeply and was incredibly proud of them.

Visitation will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29072, with burial to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens.

To better serve the Midlands region, we opened Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – West Columbia Chapel in 2006 on the grounds of Southland Memorial Gardens, our full-service cemetery.
