“Empathy” is Jason’s philosophy for patient care. Personal experiences inform his approach to every oncology patient, as several of his loved ones have battled different forms of cancer. When Jason reports for each shift, he said, “I ask myself what I would want for my own family members in patient care – and I use that frame of mind to deliver hope, comfort and dignity.”

One way Jason’s compassion takes shape is his ongoing tradition of dressing as Santa Claus to visit patients at Christmas. “Making these patients smile is the greatest gift to me every holiday season,” he said.

Recently, a Lexington ENT & Allergy patient successfully underwent cochlear implant surgery, and his device was activated. This procedure can greatly improve communication and quality of life for people with severe to profound hearing loss. Physicians Ryan Walczak, MD, and Jason Audlin, MD, are proud to offer this advanced hearing-restoration option.

A cochlear implant is a small electronic device that bypasses damaged portions of the inner ear and directly stimulates the auditory nerve. This technology is often recommended for patients who receive limited benefit from conventional hearing aids and may offer improved speech understanding and access to sound.

To learn if a cochlear implant may be right for you, call Lexington ENT & Allergy at (803) 936-7530.
