Sweet Fire is an online yoga community that helps individuals connect to a greater range of creativity, vitality and feeling through yoga & meditation classes, individualized one-on-one yoga sessions and small therapeutic group yoga classes. Sweet Fire is the heat we intentionally cultivate in yoga practice. Sweet Fire isn’t “hot yoga”; it is the heat that comes from friction. From meeting our perceived limitations and leaning in. Fire, unfettered, is destructive. Fire, closely watched, tended and contained, is both clarifying and regenerative. Sweet Fire is the heat we cultivate through focused, mindful, appropriate effort in order to clear away all that inhibits growth and momentum. It is the heat that allows us to feel more fully ourselves and more fully alive. Nothing is more healing or life-affirming than being held in a safe and supportive community. Kate Howell is a person and Kate Howell Yoga was a place-holder for a name of a community I had wanted so much to create, but couldn’t conceive of 3 years ago. It was always a process. Never a static thing. Thank you for being the spark and the light of Sweet Fire, a growing, evolving yoga community.

The holiday season can stir a mix of emotions—grief, stress, loneliness, tenderness, and overwhelm— especially for those navigating loss.

Steady Through the Season is a gentle, inclusive yoga and meditation series designed to offer grounding and support during this tender time. Together, we’ll create a safe and welcoming space to pause, reflect, and reconnect to inner steadiness.

Each class will include:

🔹Breathwork (Pranayama)
🔹Movement (Asana)
🔹Meditation & Guided Rest
🔹Yogic Philosophy

This series is not about “fixing” ourselves or avoiding difficult feelings. Instead, we’ll use the tools of yoga to move with more ease, reconnect with the breath, and make space for the full range of our human experience—with grace and gentleness.

Journey to Solstice: Embracing Stillness, Silence, Darkness & Light with Yoga Nidra
A four-week practice series to help you align with the natural rhythms of the season

As we move toward winter, we enter a liminal passage where the external world sheds what is no longer needed and honors the primal Life Death Life rhythm. Leaves fall, fields lie fallow, and animals grow lush winter coats in preparation for the long cold ahead. Even in the midst of modern busyness, we can hear it if we listen—a quiet whisper at the edge of awareness inviting us to turn toward stillness.

What if we listened to the inner voice that says, “Be still”?

Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a deeply restorative form of guided meditation that invites profound relaxation, clarity, and connection to the deep inner well that lives beneath the noise of everyday life. Journey to Solstice offers an asynchronous, four-week exploration designed to support you through the darkest days of the year and guide you back to the steady glow within.

HOW IT WORKS

Each Monday morning, you will receive an email with a breathing practice, a guided Yoga Nidra meditation, and journal prompts. Materials are available for one full week so you can move at your own pace. Whether you are new to Yoga Nidra or an experienced practitioner, these sessions are accessible and suitable for all levels.

This series is offered on a donation basis. All contributions will be donated to South Jersey Food Bank to support neighbors experiencing food insecurity this season. Give what you can—your participation helps nourish not only your own body, mind, and spirit, but also the wider community.

Sankalpa means intention. But it’s not just any intention.

Everything’s a hustle, but when this cherry blossom blooms it reminds me to slow down and “put myself in the way of beauty” as Cheryl Strayed would say.

It reminds me to be open to the ordinary mystery and magic.

And it helps me fall in love with this life I’m living… again and again.

I want to cultivate an open and spacious heart, a heart that processes, forgives, lets go and leans in. A fierce heart that embraces the uncertainty of the moment with delight in the unfolding …

This is not my nature. But I’ve learned it through the practices and rituals that sustain me.
