I am posting this with a very complicated mix of emotions to announce that Movement Yoga will be closing permanently.

Our last day of classes will be next Saturday, September 25th.

The pandemic has obviously had a devastating impact on small businesses. Independent yoga and fitness studios who rely on in-person classes are no exception. It has presented a number of challenges, some of which we were able to overcome. For a long time, the passion and love that I have for this business and for all of you kept us going strong. But ultimately, I (Jenny) had to choose between keeping the studio open and my own physical, mental, and financial health.

Even though this is the right decision for me, I am heartbroken thinking about the loss of this studio and our incredible community. Every single person that has stepped through the studio doors over the last 2 years has had a profound impact on me. Thank you all for your trust and support. I am so grateful for the studio, for all of you, and for everything that I have learned. I will always cherish this time and all of the classes and conversations we have shared.

I know that our last week of classes will be emotional for some (OK, mostly for me). I hope that I will get to see many of you again this week. I will plan to stick around the studio for a few hours on our last day, so stop by if you want to grab an extra tank top, water bottle, or any of the other items we have in the studio that need to go before we close! Everything will be heavily discounted.

In terms of accounts and memberships, everything will be terminated in Mindbody by the end of the month. If you have any questions or concerns about your package or membership, please reach out to me.

As for me personally, I have decided to go back into my full time career as a lawyer. I hope that I can devote more time and energy to my family, and to taking care of myself. Yoga is and always will be an enormous part of my life, but I will definitely be taking some time off from teaching to focus on my own practice and to find a new groove as I make this transition. Once everything is settled, I certainly hope that we have the opportunity to move together again.

Join this prenatal friendly, slow flow yoga class with on Saturday, August 28th!

Kula is a Sanskrit word that can be translated as “community,” “clan” or “tribe.”

Our society has become so detached from one another, that we are missing the support and encouragement piece that we used to have. This class weaves the community aspect of a prenatal class to the empowerment of a postpartum class. 🤰🏽

Inspired by the teachings of Sarah Longacre, owner of Blooma, this class offers poses that both nurture the mama to be, and build strength & support for mamas of all seasons. 💪🏽

This class will be a 60 minute slow flow, with moments of intensity. All levels welcome.

Malasana is a great pose to work on ankle and hip mobility. ⁠

This also makes it a tricky pose, because many people struggle with hip and ankle mobility and have a hard time getting into such a deep squat! ⁠

Make this pose work for your body by stepping your feet wider, rolling up a mat or towel under your heels, or by placing a block (or several) under your hips for support. ⁠

This grounding pose also balances your Root Chakra (Muladhara) to help you feel more safe + secure in who you are ✨

There are so many modifications available to make this pose work for you and your body. If balancing on one leg is a challenge, try using a wall or chair for support. ⁠

We are keeping our virtual classes on the schedule-- join our Virtual Studio streaming through Zoom!⁠

Here’s how it works….⁠
⏩ Classes will be held via Zoom. Download Zoom onto your laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone before class.⁠

⏩ Login or create a MindBody account and check all the boxes to receive text and email notifications so we can send you the link to access your class.⁠

⏩ Sign up for class using your membership, package, or drop-in. You can also sign up using the MindBody app on your mobile device. ⁠

⏩ We’ll send you a link to a Zoom meeting via email. Click the link 5-10 minutes before class time to join your virtual classroom!⁠

And that’s it! Make sure to set yourself up in a space with strong internet signal, with your personal yoga mat and any props or alternatives you have. Get comfy and get ready to move with us 🧘🏽‍♀️
