We’ve met the first baby of the new year. Now let’s highlight our first transplant of the new year at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines!
Sheri Nelson got the call she and her loved ones had been waiting for on New Year’s Eve. She and her husband drove in the middle of the night from Ames to Iowa Methodist Medical Center. By 9am on New Year’s Day, she was in the operating room. Sheri was discharged this week with a functioning kidney and is headed into 2026 healthy and thankful for the care team at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines as well as the person who made a life-saving decision to become a donor and save her life!
