As we move into nicer weather☀️ and gardening season, consider this your Public Service Announcement to protect your back.
Most people tend to be a bit less active during the ❄️winter❄️ months, so don't come out of the gates in a full sprint.
If you can:
🪴Break up gardening/lawncare tasks over the whole weekend, not just one day.
🪴If you are doing numerous tasks, switch between them a few times. Essentially, don't bend over 🌱weeding🌱 for an hour straight. Do 15-20 minutes, then do something else for a bit and come back to the 🌱weeds🌱 later. Staying in one position for too long can aggravate your back.
🚴♂️As your body becomes more acclimated to increased activity, you should be able to garden for longer periods without the concerns of injury.
🏋️ Core strength exercises can be extremely beneficial in creating a strong spine that is more resilient to injury.
