Independent Nursing Care LLC "Completing your circle of care"
At home, at work, and while away Independent Nursing Care, LLC was established in March, 1988.

In the beginning, Registered Nurses served as independent practitioners, working directly for their patients. Founders Mark and Julie Gemerek realized that their patients and clients could enjoy better overall health with additional services, so in 1995, we were licensed by the New York State Department of Health to provide a wide variety of health care services to families, companies, senior centers and individuals throughout New York State. Our mission and purpose is to complete your circle of care by promoting, maintaining and restoring overall good health, and well-being for the entire community- at home, at work and away.

Baby, it’s cold outside! 🥶

Western New York is living up to its reputation today! With the Winter Storm Warning in effect and bitterly cold wind chills, please take extra care.

To our Independent Nursing Care family: limit your time outdoors, watch your step on slippery pavement, and keep those blankets close. Spring will be here before we know it (we hope)! 😉

Stay safe, WNY!

How is everyone doing with those 2026 goals? ✨

We’re officially two weeks into the New Year, and we know this is usually the time when that initial "spark" starts to fade and the routine of daily life takes back over. Whether you’re focusing on better health, getting more rest, or simply being more present, remember: Progress isn't a straight line.

If you’ve slipped up or missed a day, don’t feel like you have to wait until next Monday (or next year!) to start again. Every morning is a fresh opportunity to take a small step toward a healthier, happier you.
At Independent Nursing Care, we believe that the best care starts with being kind to yourself. 💙

Let’s try something different this year... 🥂

🙄Instead of the usual "New Year, New Me" pressure, what’s one thing you are NOT changing in 2026?

🍷Maybe it’s your favorite weekend ritual, your nightly wine habit, or your refusal to give up that one old hoodie you've had for a decade.

Drop your anti-resolutions in the comments! Let’s celebrate the stuff we’re keeping exactly the same. 👇

🩺 Nursing Alert: How to kick this winter bug

We are seeing a rise in respiratory viruses locally, and many families need the best ways to handle it at home.

Whether it’s the flu, RSV, or just a bad cold, the strategy for our seniors and vulnerable neighbors remains the same: Prevention and Early Action.

Here are 3 things we recommend doing right now:

💧 1. The "2-Hour" Fluid Rule
If a loved one is sick, offer a small cup of water, broth, or an electrolyte drink every 2 hours. Dehydration is the #1 reason seniors end up in the hospital during flu season.

☁️ 2. Humidify the Air
Dry winter air makes coughs worse. A humidifier (cleaned daily!) or a steamy bathroom can help loosen chest congestion and make breathing easier.

🫁 3. Watch the Oxygen
If you have a pulse oximeter at home, check oxygen levels. If it drops below 92-93% (or their normal baseline), call a doctor immediately.

Pro-Tip: It is not too late to get a flu shot if you haven't yet!
If caring for a sick relative is becoming overwhelming, you don't have to do it alone! Call us at 716-655-8776

❄️ Brr! The thermometer is dropping, but we’re staying cozy!

👋Hello, friends and neighbors!
With the forecast officially hitting single digits this week, we wanted to send a warm reminder from the Independent Nursing Care team. Extreme cold can be tough on everyone, but it requires a little extra caution for our seniors and those with health sensitivities.
Here are a few "Nurse-Approved" tips to handle the big freeze:

🧥Layer Like a Pro: If you must go out, remember the 3-layer rule: a base layer to keep dry, a middle layer for warmth, and a water/wind-proof outer layer.

🔥Space Heater Safety: We love toasty toes, but please keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from curtains, blankets, and furniture.

🚰Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: We often forget to drink water when it isn’t hot outside! The dry winter air dehydrates you quickly, so keep that water bottle handy (or a warm cup of herbal tea!).

🥿The "Slipper Check": Cold floors mean extra socks, but wool socks on hardwood floors can be a slip hazard. Make sure your loved ones have non-slip footwear on.

❤️ The Neighbor Knock:
If you know an elderly neighbor living alone, please give them a quick knock or a call today just to make sure their heat is working and they have what they need. A friendly "hello" warms the heart faster than a radiator!
Stay safe, stay warm, and remember: we are just a phone call away if you need support!

Warmly,
The Independent Nursing Care Team
