"I recently had the pleasure of working with Jamie at Hand Therapy Associates at Oak Ridge after suffering a traumatic fall to my right thumb last August, 2023. Following a two-month order to have my hand remain in a splint, Jamie and I met weekly for occupational therapy, and I could not be more pleased with the results. Her level of expertise and professionalism in helping me understand the mechanics of my injury during our sessions was truly impressive. Fireworks are a fun and exciting part of holiday celebrations. With the 4th of July approaching, firework injuries are common for adults and children. This holiday, be sure to protect yourself and your family by following our top firework safety tips.

🎆 Always wear eye protection when using flammable material
🎆 Never hold a firework that is not meant to be held
🎆 Only light fireworks outdoors and never in the direction of a person
🎆 Never relight a firework that doesn’t light. Wait 20 minutes and then place it in a bucket of water
🎆Never allow children to handle fireworks

We will be closed Wednesday and Thursday to attend a family service for a dear family member. I will be back in the clinic on Friday.
Please take care out there. Falls on ice are the number one reason for Hand Therapy in six weeks when the cast comes off. Don't be that statistic! (But if you are, we will be here for you)

A patient and I recently reminisced about the story of Rick Allen. Def Leppard drummer who lost his arm in a horrific car crash on New Year’s eve in the early 80’s. - who fought back to return to his drums and continues to play for one of the world’s most iconic rock bands. I found this TBT footage as Rick Allen recounts the accident, his days in the hospital and his journey to continue his music. Passed our Medicare inspection Friday. We’re now able to see patients with Medicare for the specialized therapy needed to restore your hand wrist, elbow or shoulder after a fall, after surgery, or when conditions or pain make it tough to do the things you love most.
