In one of my favorite TED talks, Ingrid Fetell Lee shares her work in discovering some of the tangible roots of joy and identifies how we can all find it and create it. She explains that some things seem to create universal joy, and she does a beautiful job of explaining how we can incorporate joy into our daily lives. She says, “joy is an intense, momentary experience of positive emotion” and “the physical world can be a powerful resource in creating happier, healthier lives”.
Here are some of the images from Inner Canvas Counseling that bring me joy. What brings you joy?
Look around your day-to-day environments for “aesthetics of joy”: patterns of roundness, pops of color, symmetrical shapes, a sense of abundance and multiplicity, lightness… where is joy hiding for you and where can you incorporate more joy?
