GMO VS. BIOENGINEERED INGREDIENTS: We've pretty much been acclimated to the GMO label and what the genetically modified organism means. However, now we're seeing on our food labels the words "CONTAINS BIOENGINEERED INGREDIENT/S." Are they the same thing? Typical GMOs in the past were genetically modified and began with a seed. Definition by Google search: "DNA has been altered for a desirable trait, such as resistance to pests." With the addition of glyphosate, GMOs were never a good idea. But now in comes the bioengineered....
THE STANDARD (a reputable financial insurance company) DEFINES BIOENGINEERED FOODS AS THOSE THAT CONTAIN: "detectable genetic material that has been modified through in vitro recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (rDNA) techniques or which the modification could not otherwise be obtained through conventional breeding or found in nature."
GOOGLE PROVIDES A SIMILAR DEFINITION: "Laboratory technique that involves manipulating DNA fragments from different organisms to create a new genetic combination that would not be found in nature. It has various applications, including the production of therapeutic proteins and genetically modified organisms."
"Therapeutic proteins" was part of the language of the C-shot! For those who are okay with the C-shot, how much is too much if we're getting it in our food now? In addition, the bioengineered ingredient contains the "r" in front of the DNA, which relates to the synthetic combination of genetic material from two different sources. We are no longer dealing with primarily glyphosate and the destruction of a seed in its natural state. We are now seeing additives to beans and many other things that mysteriously appeared over the last year.
But this is where I'm ultimately going: In order to avoid this mysterious additive, I would like to suggest a couple of things. 1. Look for the Non-GMO Project label. Companies that comply with this project I believe carry healthier ingredients. 2. Work away from packaged products more and more. Cook one day a week and cook in bulk and freeze what you don't use. 3. Organic is also not perfect, but is better than the non-bioengineered for sure. If you've been already looking to avoid this poison, it is appearing more and more in non-organic foods. Take for instance, Little Debbie Snack Cakes (which I don't eat); they contain some pretty rough ingredients (like propylene glycol???), and I'm not talking about sugar. But today they list on the ingredients label "Contains bioengineered ingredient." 4. If you're one of those people who say "well, you have to die some time," remember that you are loved by your family and friends and, more importantly, you have an obligation to your Creator to do the best you can!
