🌸 Honoring Labor Day 🌸
Today we pause to honor the dedication, work, and contributions of so many throughout their lifetimes. On this Labor Day, we especially think of our patients and families—those who have worked hard, loved deeply, and given so much to their communities and loved ones. 💙

As we reflect on the meaning of this day, we celebrate the lives and legacies of those in our care, and we extend gratitude to the caregivers, families, and team members who continue to give of themselves each day.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and meaningful Labor Day. 🇺🇸

🌟 Meet Our Newest Team Member! 🌟

We are thrilled to welcome Marjie as our new Medical Social Worker! With her compassionate approach and dedication to providing support, Marjie will play a crucial role in helping our patients and families navigate healthcare challenges.

Please join us in welcoming Marjie to our team! 👏💙

My name is Marjie. I was born and raised in Oxford, PA and I have been the volunteer manager with Brandywine River Valley Hospice and am transitioning to the Social Work role. I recently graduated with my dual Master's in Public Health: Health Policy and Management and Social Work from Temple University. I want to transition into hospice social work because it allows me to be present for people when it matters most. I chose this path because I wanted to make a difference not just in how people live, but in how they say goodbye. It's about helping families navigate grief, celebrate life, and find meaning in the midst of loss. When I'm not at work, I enjoy going on a run and spending time with my husband, our 3 dogs, and 2 cats. We are huge animal people and just like animals bring us joy, we know it brings others just as much. One of our dogs, Gigi aka Gianna Marie, has been a wonderful addition to our hospice team where her presence has brought comfort, joy, and support to patients, families and staff. Gigi will participate in scheduled visits, offering companionship, reducing anxiety, and enhancing emotional well-being for patients."

We are looking for an individual(s) to create memory bears and pillows for our hospice families 🐻 These handcrafted items are made from the clothing of loved ones who have passed, serving as deeply personal keepsakes that offer comfort and preserve cherished memories.

A memory bear or pillow is a special way that our team can offer a lasting legacy. These items are made out of t-shirts, sweatshirts, and blankets - any clothing item that reminds them of their loved one - that are sewn into either the bear or pillow. The heartfelt impact these items have include emotional comfort, lasting legacy, and healing through craft.

If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in creating these items for our hospice families, please get in touch with our volunteer coordinator, Marjie, at Marjorie.Washkalavitch@lhcgroup.com
