🦺 Safety First at WHHRC! 🦺
We’re excited to share that our Safety Squad has been re-invigorated—and already making an impact! 👏

A huge thank you to Page Thibault from Human Resources for leading the charge and taking things to the next level. Thanks to her efforts, we were awarded a sizable grant from the Worker’s Compensation Trust to help bring some of our safety ideas to life.
This investment will support new initiatives focused on keeping both our staff and residents safe, because creating a safe environment is truly a team effort.

Great work, Page, and thank you to our Safety Squad for your continued commitment! 💙

💪🚶‍♀️ Exercise Day at WHHRC! 🚶‍♂️💪
Who says you need a gym to stay active? Our Business Office, Social Services, and Physical Plant teams are making the most of their lunch breaks with daily walks—and today we’re celebrating them on Exercise Day! 👏

These mid-day walks are a great way to recharge, stay healthy, and enjoy a little fresh air together. It’s just another example of how our team supports not only our residents’ well-being, but their own too 💙

Keep it up, everyone—we love to see it!

🤎 Accidental Uniform Day at WHHRC! 🤎

Some days you plan the fun… and some days it just happens! 😄

Today, FIVE of our staff showed up in brown uniforms—completely unplanned—and we couldn’t help but laugh at the perfect match. Clearly great minds (and wardrobes) think alike!

It’s these little moments that keep things light and remind us how much fun we have together as a team.

Who wore it best? 😉

🌼 Spring at WHHRC is something special 🦆

Every day, we’re surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes you pause and take it all in. From the bright yellow Fig Buttercups (according to Google) popping up—one of the first sure signs of spring—to our familiar pair of mallards enjoying the peaceful waters of Trout Brook, there’s always something to appreciate just outside our doors.

These simple moments of nature bring a sense of calm, joy, and connection for our residents, staff, and families alike. We truly are so lucky to work in such a beautiful environment. 💙

Today our staff stepped up to the plate in their favorite baseball gear—and let’s just say the friendly rivalry was in full swing! 😄

We had proud fans of the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox showing their colors, a little playful trash talk, arm wrestling match, and a whole lot of team spirit.

Most importantly, our residents enjoyed the fun right along with us—because nothing brings people together quite like baseball (and a good rivalry 😉).

Who are you rooting for? ❤️💙

Connecticut nursing homes are in a transformational period with twenty (20) homes closing in just the last five years and fifty (50) sold since 2022.

Our Connecticut nursing home is calling on all our State Senators and State Representatives to contact their Legislative Leadership and the Leadership of the of the Appropriations Committee with the straightforward message---"Restore $18.6 million (gross) Medicaid cuts to nursing homes in the pending budget. Instead, nursing home funding should be increased to assure nursing home financial stability and quality of care in our state." Connecticut can't sustain any more nursing homes closings as a population continues to dramatically age. At 90% occupancy levels, Connecticut lawmakers must invest in our state's nursing homes in this year's budget.

We need the help of our State Senators and State Representatives to stop the cuts and adequately fund our Connecticut nursing homes in this year's Appropriations Act. Please take action now by contacting your Connecticut Legislative Leadership in the Senate and House and the Leadership of the of the Appropriations Committee now!
