The West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center team had a fantastic time at this year’s CAHCF/ACHCA Trade Show on November 12th!

We learned a lot, won some great prizes, connected with our peers across the industry — and even got our caricatures drawn! 🖊️😄

Employee Spotlight: John Nesta & Family 🛠️🐾
If this isn’t a holiday card, it should be. 🎄✨

Meet John Nesta from our Physical Plant Department, his wife Tabby, and their two adorable bulldogs, Tilly & Gertie — who truly stole the show during this office visit. 🐶🐶💕

John has been part of the WHHRC family since 1993.

He first joined our Dietary Department, and several years later transitioned into Physical Plant — where he keeps our building running smoothly every single day. His knowledge of this place is unmatched, and we are grateful for his commitment, reliability, and good humor.

And now we know the real secret to his success… bulldog love. 💗

Thank you, John, for over 30 years of dedication — and thank you Tabby, Tilly, and Gertie for brightening everyone’s day!

Exciting update from the ground floor! We’ve officially replaced our patio windows, improving energy efficiency, security, and curb appeal. A small change that makes a big impact! On 10/2825, leaders from across Connecticut gathered at CCSU for the 2025 UNconference, a day focused on collaboration, innovation, and the future of healthcare.

We’re so proud of our Director of Nursing, Candace Pettigrew, RN, BSN, CCP, who was selected to serve on the Leadership Panel — sharing her insight, experience, and passion for advancing person-centered care in long-term care settings. 👏🌟

Candace represented West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center with excellence, reflecting our shared commitment to purpose-driven leadership and a positive culture for both residents and staff.

🚓🚒 Happy First Responders Day! 🚑💙

Today, Team WHHRC made special deliveries to our hometown heroes at the West Hartford Fire Department and West Hartford Police Department — lunch from to say thank you for all they do! 🍗🔥

From emergency calls to everyday kindness, these men and women keep our community safe and strong — and we’re so grateful for their service. 🙏💪

A small act of appreciation for the biggest hearts in town. 💙

🛏️ New Beds Day at WHHRC! 🛏️

Exciting day here at West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center as we received a delivery of some new replacement beds! 📦✨

It was truly a team effort — our reliable Physical Plant Department (Luis and John) led the way with assembly, joined by Rick from Recreation (who may or may not have tested them out for comfort 😄), and Ana and Natoya from Housekeeping, who jumped right in to help get everything ready.

We’re so grateful for everyone’s teamwork and enthusiasm in making “New Beds Day” a success! 💪💙

Thank you to and for helping us upgrade comfort and care for our residents.

🐾 Pet Employee Spotlight! 🐾

Meet Raven the Pug, one of our tiniest (and sassiest!) “employees” at West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center! 🖤🐾

Raven is the beloved furbaby of Rick DellaPenna, our longtime Recreation Director who’s been part of the WHHRC family since 2003. Rick often brings in his three dogs — and Raven takes her role as “Recreation Assistant in Charge of Snacks and Snuggles” very seriously. 🦴💼

Whether she’s supervising activities from Rick’s desk or spreading smiles down the hallways, Raven reminds us that joy really does come on four legs. 🐾💖
