The sun finally slipped free from the clouds and shone through the lingering drizzle. After days of waiting, the rain had passed, and opportunity was knocking—it was time to plant. Sheila brought all the tools to the raised garden bed she had prepared weeks ago, the soil rich with fertilizer and fresh compost. She wore her favorite pink gloves and made deep, spacious holes in the soil, gently pressing in the tiny tomato plants she had been nurturing. She had been looking forward to this day with the kind of quiet anticipation only a true gardener knows.
