Thanks to ALCA President Kate Granigan and Senator Bob Casey for speaking up on this important topic. Buyer beware: please remember there is no such thing as “free” service - advisers do actually get paid, not by the consumer, but by the company they are referring their client(s) to. As an ALCA professional, I am bound by ethics and standards that prohibit me from accepting referral fees - I operate without bias for my clients and understand that every situation is different.

The Senate Special Committee on Aging is investigating the company’s financial practices and how it vets facilities.

DYK: ALCA members are NOT paid referral fees and hold themselves to a strict Code of Ethics. This ensures seniors and their families receive objective guidance throughout the placement process!

Transparency: It's important for families to understand how different senior care placement services are compensated. While many placement agencies receive referral fees from facilities they recommend, Aging Life Care Managers work directly for the client. Their fees are transparent and families are aware of the cost of their services upfront.

Here's how an Aging Life Care Manager can help:
• Independent Assessment: They go beyond online reviews and can conduct evaluations of facilities, considering factors like state inspection reports and resident needs.
• Personalized Recommendations: They understand individual situations and create a list of suitable options based on care requirements, budget, and preferences.

So honored to be recognized by my peers with this award at ALCA’s annual conference in Minneapolis. Very proud to be part of such an incredible organization!

This year's Chapter Awards have been announced! The New England Chapter 2023 Outstanding Member is Kathryn Thaisz! "Kathryn has truly been a key player on the New England board. She took our website from zero to hero, and then tackled our social media like a seasoned pro, turning our LinkedIn and pages into thriving communities and seriously upping our follower game. Her leadership skills shone as she motivated others to get involved and after her term as a committee chair ended, she didn't step back. Instead, she took on the role of co-chairing our conference committee, and we are now not just on track, but we’re set to have one of our best conferences ever! What's truly impressive is her knack for facing challenges head-on, with a 'bring it on' attitude that's contagious. She does all this while running her own practice and managing family life, which, let's be honest, is no small feat." Thank you for all you do, Kathryn! Congratulations!
