In the meantime, you can contact your legislators to end the use of chlorpyrifos in your State. Here is an example for Connecticut:
Dear [First_Name],
Please take action TODAY by calling your legislators and asking them to support a bill that would ban the toxic pesticide chlorpyrifos.
We need all legislators to approach the Environment Committee chairs and request a hearing on SB64, a bill to ban chlorpyrifos.
Dow’s nerve gas pesticide chlorpyrifos has devastating impacts on our health, children’s developing brains, and our environment. The EPA, under the prior administration, reversed a nationwide rule that would have revoked all uses of this toxic pesticide.
This means chlorpyrifos is still used in agriculture and on golf courses in CT — putting our families, rural communities and farmworkers at risk. Last year the Connecticut legislature was poised to step up and protect our communities, but then Covid-19 brought legislative action to a screeching halt. Taking care of our health is more important than ever. Dow and their friends will return to stop this bill from passing. We can’t let the pesticide industry win this fight and poison kids with this brain-damaging pesticide. The only way we will pass this bill is if your legislator hears from you.
Please call your State Representative and State Senator TODAY and ask them to:
(1) Support a ban of chlorpyrifos &
(2) Speak with the leadership of the Environment Committee to request a hearing

Don't delay, contact your Connecticut legislators today and tell them to ban chlorpyrifos! Below is sample language for you to use when making your call or sending your e-mail.
Thank you!
Sample Script to Legislator:
I’m calling to urge you to support a ban on chlorpyrifos, a toxic pesticide known to cause brain damage in children. Hawaii, California and New York have all taken action. Connecticut legislators must take action to protect their constituents now.
Chlorpyrifos is so dangerous that, after years of study, the U.S. EPA recommended a complete ban because there are no safe levels of this pesticide. Child exposure to chlorpyrifos is associated with reduced IQ, loss of working memory, attention deficit disorders and delayed motor development. There are effective alternatives that won’t poison our children.
As your constituent, I urge you to take action on this issue by supporting a ban Thank you for your support.
Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate insecticide, acaricide and miticide used to control foliage and soil-borne insect pests on a variety of food and feed crops.
