Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation HHHF advances the mission and strategic objectives of Helen Hayes Hospital through the development of resources and community awareness. Davies, Jr.

The organization was founded in 1981 and incorporated in 1985 as the Helen Hayes Hospital Citizens Advisory Council. It was the collaborative effort of the famed First Lady of the American Theater, Helen Hayes MacArthur, and her good friends and neighbors, Jan and Niles M. As they sat around the Davies dining room table, they committed themselves to exploring new ways to both support and enhance the physical rehabilitation hospital and to help meet the needs of patients and individuals facing life-altering disabilities. The organization changed its name in 1999 to the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is a tax-exempt corporation as described in section 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service. As a not-for-profit organization, the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation relies upon charitable contributions to address the needs of the hospital that are not met by traditional funding sources. This includes special equipment, seed money for research, support groups, patient equipment loans, adaptive sports and other items/services that promote physical rehabilitation medicine. The HHH Foundation is committed to ensuring that every dollar it receives is spent in accordance with the donor’s wishes and the hospital’s needs. The Foundation is guided by a Board of Directors that is committed to the hospital’s mission. This diverse group of individuals meets regularly to ensure that the Foundation is best able to work collaboratively and effectively with the Hospital to enhance programs and services. Foundation members are available to meet with local group and individuals to solicit their support and involvement.
