I completed my undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona and proceeded to medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. I then completed my training and residency in Michigan, becoming Board Certified in Family Medicine. I then found my true passion and obtained advanced certification in Age Management Medicine and Hormonal Optimization so that I could help restore people's sense of self and vitality so they could truly LIVE their life and not just exist.

What usually is a dreaded experience(going to the doctor, no I don’t like being on the other side), how refreshed and revitalized I feel now! What if your purpose is to BE(not become, because you already are!) the fullest expression of yourself at your purest, truest, boldest(not watered down for other’s comfort) essence? How would what you’re doing today change? Would you hurry up to answer other people’s emails…or would you dance and sing in exaltation?

People don’t come to me for “just” hormone balancing. They come to me because they want to feel ALIVE and RELEVANT and VITAL. They want to feel that inner self that they remember being before life on the hamster wheel and all its expectations squished them.

There has been a lot of talk about midlife moments now, the shift that happens during peri menopause and menopause and how women are choosing to do and be different paradigms than previous generations. This is partly possible because of hormone optimization. Without adequate hormones, it makes it difficult to feel our truest selves, to have enough energy, confidence, inner vitality, and mental clarity to actually connect to our inner knowing and navigate life and what we truly want to do/be. It’s been likened to having “a light switch” turned on inside.

Sometimes it takes a village to return to safety within yourself, and despite many of the things we can do for ourselves to regulate our nervous system, sometimes a little help is nice✨

This Shiftwave chair has been a game changer for me personally and in introducing self regulating techniques like breathwork, humming, meditation, movement to my patients. It helps to retrain the nervous system, as well as vibrating out existing trauma from the cells. TRE(trauma releasing exercises) are a way of doing this for yourself, and have been used in soldiers returning from war to prevent trauma from remaining in the body.

This has been used for first responders for the LA fires as well as the Ukraine war. Muscles/fascia are able to relax, and simulations of fight or flight responses paired with rest and digest recovery responses help to create more resilience in the nervous system/body. If we allow trauma to remain in our body, or stress to continue endlessly, the body will eventually say NO…with a heart attack, autoimmune disease, or something else.

When I’m in LA, I try to “take a ride” on this daily, to enhance my resilience and create new neural networks. When I’m not, the next best thing is walking in nature, humming, and anything that keeps me grounded in my body.

My journey to feeling safe in my own body began when I was 38 and realizing my hormones weren’t balanced(after being told all of my labs were “normal”), meeting my first mentor, and beginning hormone optimization. I quite literally felt like I WOKE UP to my life…my Hormonal “Awakening”…leading me to explore other healing modalities, which I incorporate in my practice now, including Trauma Informed medicine(training with Dr Gabor Mate), Somatic experiencing/Embodiment practices, and so much more.

When we’re in constant survival mode (which most of us are at some point, on the hamster wheel of life and what we think we’re “supposed” to do/look like), there’s no room for the MAGIC, Liberation, and Expansion of life to move through you, Live IN you…there’s only gripping, feeling like a Roly Poly, and a never ending loop of insanity/being caught in the matrix.

Awareness of this is the first step….we don’t know what we don’t know, right?! Now…acceptance of this is the way it’s been…and that there IS more. Next…ACTION!! In order to do new things, we need to DO new things!!!

Restoring, reclaiming, remembering…the many themes of my last few weeks. Our bodies hold incredible wisdom…if we can be still enough to listen. Our bodies also can hold a lot of trauma, and with that, can hold our joy, sensuality, sovereignty, playfulness, and vital life force energy as prisoners…until we’re able to release the grip. For me, it’s been a several year process of undoing the effects of a highly toxic and abusive partnership, for me to finally feel safe in my body again. Feeling safe in your body is a key component to achieving not only self realization, but self actualization. Hormone balance is vital for initiating this process, because when your hormones are imbalanced, your body responds with inflammation, because it doesn’t feel safe. Then, or during, movement to mobilize any stuck or stagnant energy(embodied trauma) as well as all the juicy, yummy good things that got stuck in there. Dancing, yoga(any kind, but particularly helpful for me has been kundalini and restorative), bodywork(massage, acupuncture, assisted restorative yoga so your body can unwind in the presence of safety), nature walks, simply sitting in stillness in nature, are all great places to start. Once you’re able to thaw out those frozen yummy parts of you, the flow you’ll experience(personally, professionally, financially, and so much more) will be limitless. Today I find myself having impromptu dance parties to mobilize and enjoy the yummy parts that have been thawed out…I invite you to give it a try for yourself💃🐍💖It takes all of us doing our own dance, that’s unique to us, and being witnessed/sharing to effect a much needed change.
