In wine, vintage reports capture the growing season—weather patterns, challenges, yields, and the character they imprint on the final product. This 2024 California Harvest Report is our first attempt to apply that same lens to our industry.
This inaugural report is intentionally limited in scope. It reflects insights from just over 20 small, craft farms across five California regions: Humboldt, Mendocino, Trinity, Lake, and Nevada Counties. It is not comprehensive, and it’s arriving later than we would ideally publish a harvest report. But it represents an important first step and proof of concept for how we believe cannabis harvests should be documented, contextualized, and remembered.
Rather than aiming for authority, this report offers a glimpse into a single season, a handful of regions, and a community of farmers whose work is deeply shaped by place, climate, and care. In the year ahead, this framework will expand with more farms, deeper regional insight, and more timely reporting. We’ll open a call for submissions for the 2025 Harvest Report in January, with a separate announcement inviting farmers who would like to participate.
For now, we’re proud to share this first vintage. Featured farms include:
Humboldt County: Alpenglow Farms, Briceland Forest Farm, Galactic Farms, Huckleberry Hill Farms, Midnight Gardens, Neukom Family Farm, Organic Medicinals / Alluvium Organics, Savage Farms, and True Mom and Pop
Mendocino County: Cosmic Forces Garden, First Cut Farms, Martyjuana Farms, North Folk Garden Society, River Txai Farms / Arcana Flowers, Seed 707, Sunbright Gardens, and Tall Tree Society
Trinity County: Sol Spirit Farm, Trinity Alps Canna Craft
Lake County: Magic Meadow Farms, Mombacho Farms
Nevada County: Bear River Farms, Foothill River Farms
