I turn 43 today.

Scroll to the bottom if you want to read about my birthday flash sale…But first…

42 was a pretty good year! Here are some of the highlights…

-Got my black belt in BJJ
-Finished my first half marathon
-Visited two different countries
-Got to see my family in NH a few times
-Spent a ton of quality time with friends
-Created new personal and professional relationships

-Ate tons of great food (not just eggs, broccoli and oatmeal haha)

Half Marathon Done!

I got back into running a little less than a year ago.

It had been almost a decade since I had been consistent and my first three mile jog felt rough.

I’ve slowly ramped up. Three miles is now butta.

I did my first 10k in March. It was challenging, but I felt like I could’ve done a little more so I signed up for a half marathon.

I followed a pretty standard training protocol, didn’t miss any of my weekly “long runs,” and as a result, felt pretty well prepared.

The best advice I got was to start slow. That helped me from not hitting any kind of wall.

The best advice I could give (in addition to that) is to not have more caffeine than you normally would.

I had a little bit more than usual.

Combining that with the natural adrenaline from an event like this and it made it a little difficult to settle into a calm pace.

Nothing disastrous, but just something I would’ve done differently.

This was a new challenge for me, my goal was just to finish, and I can happily say, “mission accomplished.”

I have some exciting news to share - I'm changing careers! After several years of working as a fitness coach, I've decided to start managing a Petco store, and I couldn't be more thrilled about this new opportunity.
While I've loved working with people and helping them achieve their fitness goals, I've come to realize that my true passion lies in working with animals. There's something incredibly special about the connection we can form with our furry (or scaly!) friends that I've found to be incredibly rewarding.

Working with animals is different from working with people in so many ways. Animals don't judge you, they don't hold grudges, and they don't play games. They're pure, honest, and authentic, and I've found that being around them brings a sense of peace and calm that I just can't find anywhere else.

Plus, there's something incredibly fulfilling about knowing that you're helping to take care of animals who rely on us for their wellbeing. Whether it's helping customers find the perfect food for their furry friend or assisting with pet adoptions, I know that my work at Petco will have a meaningful impact on the lives of so many animals.

So, while I'm sad to say goodbye to my days as a fitness coach, I'm excited about this new chapter in my life. I can't wait to meet all of the amazing animals and pet parents at Petco, and I'm looking forward to continuing to learn and grow as I take on this new challenge. Have you ever had the thought when you’re laying in bed at night,

“I should’ve done this today or I should’ve done that today?”

“Tomorrow is the day where I don’t eat like a slob!”

“Tomorrow is when I’ll start working out!”

The problem is that “tomorrow” never comes.

This negative thinking pattern is a form of anxiety. Anxiety that keeps you up, ruins your sleep, and leaves you feeling like garbage.

It happens night after night, and seems to get worse and worse.

How many more broken promises and false starts are you willing to deal with?

The good news is that there is a solution to this.

Action.

Action alleviates anxiety (but only 100% of the time.)

Stop telling yourself that you SHOULD change your diet, and that you SHOULD start working out and just freaking START.

Start making better dietary choices, start moving your body more, and it will IMMEDIATELY relieve your anxiety around those issues.

They actually unfollowed me for this...⁣

This weekend a few guys said that they were unfollowing me because I said I write down my goals every day. ⁣

I guess they thought that was corny. ⁣

A few years ago, I may have thought the same thing. That’s fine. ⁣

I hope they’re cool with staying exactly the same, because when you don’t write down your goals, that tends to happen. ⁣

I had a lot of experience with this.⁣

You probably didn’t know this, but I had about 1000 followers on all platforms COMBINED last year. You had no idea who I was and had no reason to.⁣

I struggled during all of my 20’s and most of my 30’s, and I knew something MAJOR needed to change.⁣

On January 1st 2022 I wrote down that I wanted 100,000 followers, and I came up with a game plan to do so. ⁣

I reviewed my goals every day and that’s one of the main reasons I ended up getting 557,000 followers across all platforms this year. ⁣

I went from no one knowing who I was, to being recognized in public in other parts of the country.⁣

Clothes stopped fitting, and it no longer became necessary to wear belts on ANY of my pants (If I could even get them around my waist.) I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.
