“Physician heal thyself”⁣

This is the time of year when the energy is running high in spite of the fact that the winter season wants us to relax and rest. We healers are often the ones in the most need of healing especially during this incredibly busy season. Sometimes no matter how healthy our behaviors may be; eating a plant based vegetarian diet, not smoking nor drinking and working out regularly, stress still produces toxins. While I’m blessed to have so many patients that I get to treat and help heal, there are times that my body also gets overloaded which is what you’re seeing here. ⁣

Times like these I lean harder into my healing community. Got an excellent cupping and acupuncture treatment from ⁣
and about to hit up to get some nutritional detox tips. If has time to do some body on me that would be amazing. I’ve also been doing hot Epsom salt-baking soda-essential oil baths which is taking the edge off. ⁣

I leave next week Wednesday for a weeklong meditation retreat at the Buddhist monastery I go to every year for the past 8 years. Out of the bustling city and into the mountains I go for 7 days. I’ll be gone Wednesday to Wednesday and totally off the grid so if you need an appointment I’ll be back in the office on the 31st. 🎃 I’ll come back fully recharged and ready to spread the goodness! ⁣⁣⁣

🌅Having a plan in place for every aspect of life helps create containers for ourselves. They don’t have to be rigid, but at least some idea of what we want to point towards is a helpful step. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌅 A container for our finances looks like a budget. A container for fitness looks like a workout plan. A food plan doesn’t necessarily have to be precise, but having an idea in advance helps us plan meals accordingly and informs us what we need buy at the store. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌅 A meditation plan is no different. Life happens, things change and every day can be different so keep the plan flexible, but getting to a place where we have a meditation scheduled in advance helps us actually do it. Adding an accountability partner or group-someone we check in with like a friend or teacher that we inform that we sat and for how long-can also be a helpful tool. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌅 It may be a simple journal that we answer to instead, jotting down our meditation and any insights we received that day. Either way, treating our self-care and meditation with as much respect as our diet and our finances is a sure fire way to jump start our spiritual practice and start feeling better!⁣

🌅 Sometimes we get a chance to sit and meditate somewhere beautiful but life doesn’t always look like this. The day to day grind can seem grueling at times and we forget just how beautiful sitting and breathing can be. ⁣

🌅My mission is to help people find beauty by sitting and breathing no matter where they are. When I go to the monastery we literally sit facing a wall and we breath and we count and we meditate for 30 minutes at a time. At first it felt like torture because my senses were so used to views and sage smells and candles 🕯 when I meditated. ⁣

🌅I have since gotten to a place where I know that being able to sit and breath and take time for myself is a necessary privilege no matter what my surroundings. Sure, the forces that don’t want me to meditate are still at work. Those same forces tell us to eat that unhealthy food or turn on the TV instead of doing our spiritual work or buy that thing we can’t afford etc etc. ⁣

🌅This is a huge reason that we meditate. To train our minds so that when those forces appear and start to pull us off our paths by telling us lies like we are not good enough or we don’t deserve to be truly healthy in every way; we get to shift our focus back to love. Back to self care and back to the breath. ⁣

🌅We are in this together you guys. I need just as much support as all of you, and that’s why I have my community to lean in on when I fall off. I hope you know you can lean in on me. 💚

💚Sitting still and breathing can seem so dang hard!! When I have that thought I stop and ask which part of me is thinking that. ⁣⁣

💚The part of me that thinks this way is ego-anything that’s not part of my authentic higher self. It’s the same part that doesn’t want me to practice at all. These are forces at work trying to pull us away from our spiritual practice and our self care. ⁣⁣

💚Moments such as these is when I lean into which means community. I have a meditation accountability group and each time any of us sit we text the group to let each other know we did. I’m forever grateful to these people for helping me keep my practice propped up! 🙏🏻 ⁣⁣

💚Taking time to unplug and escape our little bubbles is crucial for our self-care. ⁣

💚I’ve made a list of things I consider self-care and I aim to accomplish 4 a day. ⁣

💚Simple things like escaping into nature or meeting a friend for coffee. Getting a massage or spending the day unplugged from technology can often do the trick as well. ⁣

💚I’m so blessed to have friends that get it. Surround yourself with people who go where the love is. ⁣

🙏🏻 Do you ever feel like you just can’t sit still and breath? I’m here to tell you that you can! Today is the perfect day to start! The goal for first timers is literally 60 seconds.

🙏🏻 Pick a spot in your home, light a candle and set in on the floor. If you don’t have a meditation cushion use big books and a cushion to raise your butt up above your knees. Sit down, cross your legs, keep a straight and relaxed spine and and breath while watching the candle.

🙏🏻 Each INHALE is a count while the exhale is an opportunity for . When you get to 10 go back to 1. If you lose count go back to 1.

🙏🏻 Start with 60 seconds a day and see what happens. I’m available for any questions.

🙏🏻 Never ever shame or guilt yourself for not “getting it right.” It’s ALL right. 😉
